  • Chinese Football - 5 Flats with DC - Use Your Weight Radio Podcast
    May 7 2024

In this edition of 5 flats, DC takes 5 minutes or less to introduce us to Chinese Football, a Chinese indie rock and math rock band founded in 2011, in Wuhan, China. In the Summer of 2021, Chinese Football started recording their first full length album since 2015 called Win & Lose. They started a tour to promote the album around China in October 2021, although restrictions thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic in China caused delays. While the album was originally meant to be released in the fall of 2021, Xu Bo delayed it to 2022 thanks to "Not being completely satisfied". Win & Lose had a mixed reception in China, with its more pop sound leading to the band called "traitors, however, it did sell well, being at the top of the math rock section in Bandcamp. https://chinesefootball.bandcamp.com/https://www.instagram.com/chinesefoot...https://dogknightsproductions.com/col... 5 flats with DC part of the Use Your Weight radio podcast presented by the JXB Radio Network Share it with a friend. polyrhythms, odd time signatures, complex meters, syncopation, angular melodies, dissonance, non-standard chord progressions, finger-tapping techniques, microtonality, algorithmic composition, looping pedals, tonal ambiguity, extended techniques, percussive guitar playing, minimalist instrumentation, unconventional song structures, metric modulation, chromaticism, use of effects pedals, counterpoint, fusion of genres (e.g., jazz, punk), quirky lyrics (if any), high technical proficiency, experimental soundscapes, intricate bass lines, off-kilter rhythms, avant-garde influences, DIY ethos, mathy breakdowns, emphasis on instrumental prowess
