In Springfield, Oregon crazy shit happens all the time. There's lots of tweakers, bad-asses, and all kinds of survivors of abuse running around like cockroaches--half scarecrow, were-humans. If you find yourself in Springfield Oregon at night, and you happen to bend a corner, and then in the shadows you see a scarecrow-looking tweaker on a mountain bike, with torn jeans shorts, a mesh tank top, and high-top Reeboks with no socks, run...run, or get in your car and cross the bridge back to Eugene. An old friend, Flying Dante, called to tell me about our old acquaintance Trouble Troy, who had to be talked out to safety, from some home by a crisis negotiator in Springfield, Oregon. Today, nobody knows what happened to Trouble Troy.
