We collided for brief moments of commerce,
All Shapes and sizes.
From livestock
To springs for watches,
Musicians and actors to entertain.
Beside the ferris wheel
And candy floss
Machines.
We didn’t notice
The restrictions at first,
Just a few minor inconveniences
For the greater good.
The divisions
Started with the regions,
Then friends couldn't be seen mingling
If one was from this town
Or that.
Eventually we locked the gates
And walked away.
A few of us tried to restart it
But It’s too hard to relight a flame
That has long been
Stamped out.
