In 2007, a little movie called "Superbad" came out in theaters. It had all the hallmarks of your typical teen comedy - cursing, underage drinking, and a preoccupation with the idea of bedding your classroom crush, just to name a few. But beneath those familar trappings lies a surprisingly deep, honest, yet still hilarious look at adolescent male friendships, and the fears and insecurities that simultaneously hold you back, but still wondering what else could be out there for you. So uncap a fresh bottle of Goldslick Vodka - you know, the one with the little gold flakes in it - and listen in as Andrew and I unpack our favorite scenes, lines and fond memories of this instant classic.

Things started to feel a little stale and same-y by this point in our run, so Andrew and I decided to shake things up by looking at a select few of our past topics to take a deeper, more honest look at just how true our nostalgia rang. In doing so, the true vision of this show revealed itself, as we decided to look at what being “too old” for something actually meant for each of us. A mission state evolving in real time. That being said, this might be the most important episode we ever recorded. Thank you.

In the early ‘90s, Hollywood Pictures had the bright idea of taking the most popular video game in the world and making a movie out of it. Seemed like a pretty good idea at the time, right? The resulting motion picture was Super Mario Bros., which over the last 30 years has gone from box office Bob-omb to cult classic. So, naturally, by Too Old Souls standards, a Shitty Movie Showcase was in order for Andrew and I. Trust the fungus, draw yourself a fresh mud bath (because it’s both CLEAN and DIRTY at the same time) and enjoy.

Well past it's prime in the 80's, visiting an arcade in the latter half of the '90s felt a little like visiting an endangered species, especially with console gaming rising to supremacy. The last of a dying breed. A loud, colorful cave of electronic wonders, where it felt like anything was possible, provided you had a pocketful of tokens to get you where you needed to go.
