Buckle Up Podcast Universe with Brandon Rush & Mama Rush
Today, we had the absolute honor of welcoming Cecil J. Williams, legendary civil rights photographer and historian, to the Buckle Up Podcast Universe.
Mr. Williams shared firsthand accounts of the Civil Rights Movement and the powerful moments he witnessed and documented throughout history. From the leaders he encountered to the stories behind the photographs that helped shape our understanding of that era, his perspective was both educational and deeply moving.
He even told us about meeting Senator John F. Kennedy — and the kind gesture JFK extended to him before becoming President — a powerful reminder of how history is often shaped by human moments.
We also discussed the Cecil Williams South Carolina Civil Rights Museum in Orangeburg, a place dedicated to preserving the truth, the stories, and the legacy of those who fought for justice and equality.
Mr. Williams was not only a wealth of knowledge, but an absolute delight to have on the show. His wisdom, humility, and lived experience brought a level of depth that we are incredibly grateful for.
This episode is one you don’t want to miss.
