À propos de ce contenu audio
“How do I talk to ATC?” is one of the most common questions new pilots ask when flying online -- but it’s rarely the real problem.
In this first episode of Handling the Virtual Jets, we step back from phraseology and scripts and look at the bigger picture: how the aviation system actually works, what pilots are responsible for, what air traffic control really does, and how those roles fit together.
We start with a recent aviation news story about a geomagnetic storm and why events like this highlight how professional pilots think about systems, reliability, and assumptions. From there, we unpack why understanding IFR (and VFR) flying, having a plan, and managing your own workload matters far more than “sounding right” on the radio.
Along the way, there’s a line training anecdote about “saving time” that doesn’t exist, a light-hearted moment overheard on the frequency, and a practical challenge you can take into your very next flight.
This episode isn’t about memorising what to say. It’s about understanding the system you’re flying in -- and why, once that clicks, talking to ATC becomes much easier.
