  • CEO & EIC of 7 figure business GUAP MAGAZINE: Ibrahim Kamara
    May 12 2022

Episode 3 of TheeStyleReport is a special one. I speak with Ibrahim Kamara who is CEO of GUAP Magazine and has a story that all should know. Ibrahim was one of my first industry friends and is a dear one - this story is something special that has completely transcended my take on life.

At 12 years old, Ibrahim Kamara began his entrepreneurial journey. People were selling doughnuts to his year group at school, but no one was selling Lucozade.

He bought a 6-pack for £3 and sold each one for £1.

He doubled his money. And continued to do so.

At 21 he and his now business partner Jide Adetunji saw a gap in the magazine market.

There were magazines in 2015, but there were no video magazines.

Being so immersed in the youth culture they realised no one really understood the youth culture. Talent classed as ‘up and coming’ had already made it in their eyes.

There was a real emerging talent that wasn't getting a platform.

This was the beginning of GUAP. They co-founded the company out of Uni, which has now worked with Apple, Reebok, Kurt Geiger, and Nike.

Ibrahim and Jide are visionaries, they are making a positive impact on the world, they are successful businessmen, they are changing the lives of the people they work with and providing a platform for very talented people who are at the start of their journey.

One lesson that can be learned from the story of how Ibrahim became co-founder and CEO of GUAP.

How bad do you want it?

If it aligns with something you're passionate about. That's an opportunity you'll have the motivation, passion, and hunger to make the necessary change.

And you might have a successful business in your hands...

  • BECOMING A FASHION DESIGNER WITH LIZ SANYA: BETTING ON YOURSELF, HUSTLE CULTURE, PERFECT TIMING?
    Mar 15 2022

On the first episode of the TheeStyleReport podcast, I speak with LIZ SANYA, Founder and creative director of Glitter Customs and Luxury brand SANYA. She first began customizing shoes at age 16 and has since then gone on to bigger things.

The key lesson from SANYA’s story is what trusting in your talent really means. Have your eye on what it is you want to achieve, and then forget what everyone else is saying, try and carve out time every single day to work on your passion. It seems simple, but if it was more people would do it.

We fill our lives with procrastination and social media to distract ourselves from the reality that our dreams are closer than we could imagine. This shocking insight of being your own biggest supporter, and betting on yourself might just help you gain some perspective along the way.

Since our interview SANYA (the brand) has been featured in British GQ and been worn by Mayorkun.

    Topics:

    - Why did she decide to become a designer?

    - Hustle Culture and Burn Out

    - Betting on Yourself

    - The Psychology of Fashion Design

    - Why did the release of her debut collection take so long?

    -Whether the Perfect Time exists?
