      In 1978 PDPA; The People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan, the Soviet-backed communist party, conducted a successful revolution and overthrow the Muhammad Daoud Khan regime. This revolution was known as the Saur revolution or April revolution. Communists took over Afghanistan hoping to bring modernization and social progress to the country. But things were not easy for them. 

      The two-episode The Rise and Fall of Socialism in Afghanistan will be discussing, the rise of socialism, foreign invasion and the emergence of radical Islam in Afghanistan. (Episode Language: Malayalam)
