  • How to Change the Course of Elections with Your Shopping
    Nov 18 2020

This year we experienced one of the most pivotal elections in the United States, and perhaps in the world. Millions of Americans showed up to the polls to cast their ballots as we stressed the importance of voting and how every person’s vote makes a difference. And while that holds true, it’s also important to note that voting is not the only way that we can contribute to a brighter future. There are choices that we make each and every day that actually play a significant role in shaping the world we live in. But what exactly are those choices and how do they make a difference? What else can we be doing besides voting every few years? This is what I am sharing with you in today’s episode! You might learn something that you didn’t know before, and it might change the way you think about spending your money going forward.

    In this episode we discuss:

    • Why your vote matters
    • What else you can do to make a difference
    • How money comes into play during an election
    • Supporting ethical companies

    Nov 11 2020

In today’s episode, we are joined by Jennifer Risher, who is the author of We Need to Talk: A Memoir About Wealth. We have all heard of countless “get rich quick” books, books that provide guidance on how to make more money, and how to be successful, but no one ever talks about what happens after that. What is it like to actually be rich? With us, Jennifer shares her personal journey on how she and her husband came into extraordinary wealth during their early 30’s, what she experienced as a result, and some lessons that she has learned along the way. I invite you to join our conversation as we dive into the importance of connection and communication, and how to navigate both components in your life as a woman with power and wealth.

    In this episode we discuss:

    • Isolation as a result of being wealthy
    • The fear around talking about money
    • Common beliefs that “if only ___, then my life would be better”
    • What happens when we communicate rather than overthink or assume

  • Why I Don't Think Charity is the Best Way to Make an Impact
    Oct 20 2020

In this episode, I want to share with you some alternative ways that you can make a difference aside from charitable donations alone. I want to talk to you about social entrepreneurship. While charities are, of course, amazing resources for you to contribute to, I want to remind you that there are other ways that you can make a long-lasting difference in the world. It’s important to not only think about what we can do to solve a problem that’s currently happening in the world or in our community but also to focus on what we can do to help eliminate the problem altogether and stay eliminated so that the need for a charity doesn’t exist in the first place. So how can you get involved on a deeper level that goes beyond simply making a donation? How do you create a legacy that will contribute to long-term, sustainable change? I’m telling you how today!

    In this episode we discuss:

    • What is the definition of a charity?
    • What is the purpose of a charity?
    • How charities are affected by an economic recession
    • What impacts long term vs. short term change
    • Social entrepreneurship as an alternative
    • Making a donation vs. making an investment

  • Why You Need to Make New Friends as Your Wealth Grows
    Oct 6 2020

As wealthy and powerful women, sometimes things can get complicated when it comes to our friendships. As things in your life start to change, like your environment and your finances, it’s only natural that as a result your friendships might start to change as well. And that is okay! It’s normal for people to change, develop, and grow apart. It doesn’t mean that we did anything wrong or that we have to stop caring about anyone, and it doesn’t mean that we feel like we’re better than anyone. This changing of friendships and relationships with others is often more difficult for women to navigate than it is for men, but it doesn’t have to be. I want you to question the pressure that you feel and where it’s coming from. Who or what is placing these expectations on you. What expectations are you placing on others? If you’ve been struggling with certain friend groups recently or noticing that changes are starting to happen and you’re unsure of how to feel about it, then make sure you don’t miss this episode!

    In this episode we discuss:

    • Holding ourselves back so that our friends don’t feel left behind
    • Friendships don’t have a manual
    • Having different friend groups from different aspects of life (childhood, university, business, etc.)
    • How our friendships shape who we are
    • How to recognize when a friendship becomes negative or toxic
