  • Dissecting The Khia Asylum & Problematic Stan Culture
    Jan 15 2026

Happy Thursday Popheads!!! We back with a spankin’ new episode of TWWD and the tea is flaming today. Whether we know it or not, we all belong to some type of fandom and it’s our responsibility to maintain positive order when repping our favorite artists. From observation, I’m starting to see how vibes are changing for Gen Z and Alpha Stans!

This week I’m tapping in with a conversation that started as a joke online but has quietly turned into something a lot more problematic: the Khia Asylum and how pop culture fandom has gotten way too comfortable turning artists into punchlines the moment their charts cool off. I break down where the term came from, how it’s being used now, and why the energy feels less camp and more cruel lately.

I get into why this trend is especially wild when you think about how careers actually work. Every artist has highs and lows. That doesn’t erase their talent, their catalog, or their impact. I also had to pause and give Khia her real flowers because Florida’s finest has way more range and legacy than the internet gives her credit for. Period. Along the way I connect this whole thing to fan culture today, keyboard bravery, misused language, and how negativity somehow became a sport instead of support.

Heavy topic, but we keep it light. There are laughs, side tangents, retail trauma bonding, pop nostalgia, and plenty of silver linings because I still believe fandom can be fun again. If you love pop culture but feel exhausted by how mean the discourse has gotten, this one’s for you. Grab a snack, get comfy, and let’s wind down while we unpack why uplifting your faves will always hit harder than dragging them.

  • Bravoholics UNITE | The Real Housewives of Prison, New Vandermpump Cast, & More!
    Jan 8 2026

Where my Bravoholics at?!?! This week’s episode is messy, hilarious, unhinged, and somehow still deeply observant as Jer connects the dots between Bravo stardom, courtroom drama, and why a criminal record might as well be a casting requirement at this point.

We go into a full Bravo breakdown as we explore the growing list of Housewives and extended Bravolebrities who have brushed shoulders with the justice system. From glam before the halfway house to mugshots that deserve their own reunion couch, Jer asks the real question. Is prison just another storyline arc? The episode runs through the Housewives universe with sharp takes and plenty of laughs. Potomac gets dissected with love and frustration. Salt Lake City proves once again why it is carrying the network on its back. Atlanta teases a return to form. Beverly Hills wrestles with illusion versus reality. Orange County stays aggressively ignorant. Summer House remains chaotic comfort TV. Vanderpump continues its identity crisis era.

Along the way, Jer delivers hot takes on cast demotions, franchise fatigue, reality TV psychology, and why some stars thrive in the chaos while others crumble under it. It is shady but fair, comedic but thoughtful, and deeply rooted in a love for reality television as the ultimate social experiment. If you love Bravo, live for reunion reads, and have ever wondered how accountability works in reality TV land, this episode is for you. Press play, grab your drink of choice, and wind down with us because apparently the Bravo to prison pipeline is very real.

The Weekly Wind Down, where pop culture gets unpacked like a group chat voice note that accidentally turns into a TED Talk.

  • Surviving Diddy...AKA The NY Wizard of OZ | The Weekly Wind Down (Episode 5)
    Dec 18 2025

If it's not evident yet, Diddy (aka Puffy, Sean Combs, Love) is the Wizard of Oz! A full-fledged scheme in human flesh right before our eyes. For decades, we've watched him rise through the media industry, with assets valued over millions of dollars and connections out the wahoo! This week, we're having a very real conversation about power, pop culture, and the wild revelations unpacked in a new documentary about his shortcomings. Heavy topics, yes but with humor, honesty, and a whole lot of side eye.

Your host and resident Pop Culture Maven @theworldofjer talks girl groups, timelines highlights from the new Netflix Documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning. With a comedic but thoughtful lens, the episode breaks down the absurdity of how long we as a culture ignored certain behaviors and rooted efforts of crises as “just how things were.” Jer reflects on the loss of the rose colored glasses around the 90s and 2000s music era while still finding moments of clarity, humor, and lessons in accountability and self awareness.

There is also the pop fan dilemma. What do you do when someone tied to so many iconic records turns out to be deeply disappointing? Can we still celebrate the artists who survived the system, barely saw royalties, and gave us timeless music while calling out the mess at the center? Jer wrestles with separating art from artist, supporting the real talent, and keeping Uber Eats money flowing for the girl groups we love.

This episode balances truth with levity, critique with comedy, and frustration with forward thinking. It is about naming the darkness without letting it steal your joy, laughing through the chaos, and choosing better futures for the culture.

If your timeline has been a mix of nostalgia, shock, memes, and moral debates, this episode will feel like a group chat voice note you did not know you needed. Press play, share with intention, and keep winding down with us every week.

  • Has Social Media Killed The Music Video Star? | The Weekly Wind Down (Episode 4)
    Dec 11 2025

This week on The Weekly Wind Down, @theworldofjer dives into a conversation every pop fan has clocked but rarely says out loud: Did social media quietly end the reign of the iconic music video star?

Once upon a time, music videos were the crown jewel of an artist’s era. They defined entire moments in pop culture, turned singers into megastars, and lived rent free in our minds for years. Think of the world stops we used to experience when a new visual dropped. Entire generations were raised on countdown shows, blockbuster premieres, and videos so cinematic they felt like mini movies.

But now we are in the digital and parasocial era where artists build connections through quick clips, livestreams, and behind the scenes intimacy on TikTok instead. That shift has changed the way artists invest in visuals and the way fans consume them. In this episode, Jer unpacks why polished video rollouts are becoming rare, how virality has replaced spectacle, and what this means for the future of pop stardom.

From the glory days of Janet and Missy to the viral moments shaping music today, Jer explores whether the magic is gone or simply evolving. If you love deep dives on the state of pop, this one is going to hit that sweet nostalgic spot while giving you something new to think about.

Listen in, share with your fellow culture fiends, and stay tapped in as we continue to wind down every week with positive and refreshing pop commentary.

  • Leave NORMANI Alone! | The Weekly Wind Down (Episode 3)
    Dec 4 2025

Normani Nation, report to the stage because we're stepping into full Chris Crocker energy to defend one of pop’s most mistreated talents. This week, your host + resident Pop Culture Maven @theworldofjer is fed up, fired up, and breaking all the way down why Normani deserves nothing but respect, support, and a peaceful rollout.

From the relentless haters to the messy family drama, from RCA’s fumbled label strategy to the management carousel that stalled her momentum, Jer gets real about the systemic obstacles including racism within the industry that have tried to dim a star who was never meant to be dimmed. It is time to put some accountability on the table.

But best believe we are also giving Normani her flowers. Jer highlights her most iconic performances, her choreo excellence, her undeniable presence, and the moments that prove she is one of the strongest triple threats of her generation. Because when Normani hits a stage? It is always game over (and has been since the origins of Fifth Harmony).

If you have ever rooted for an underdog, fought for your fave, or been personally victimized by the constant “where is the album” discourse, this episode will have you nodding, shouting, and maybe even wiping a little tear. Hit follow, send this to a fellow Mani stan, and keep winding down with us every week.

  • Who Gonna Be The Boys…of POP??? | The Weekly Wind Down (Episode 2)
    Nov 27 2025

Pop fiends, gather ‘round because we're tackling a question the industry STILL hasn’t answered (and in our best Khia voice): who is going to be the next male pop star? Host + resident Pop-Culture Maven @theworldofjer is breaking down why the lane for a true boy pop icon feels more vacant than ever.

From the fact that today’s only chart-topping men are either industry vets or rappers, to the way artists like Bieber have burned out under impossible expectations, Jer gets into the real tea about why the pipeline has slowed to a drip. We’re also looking at the COVID fallout that stalled the momentum of rising talents like Alex Aiono, Marteen, Anthony Ramos, Travis Garland, and others who were primed for a breakout before the world hit pause.

Of course, we’re unpacking how limited songwriting topics have washed out the craft itself, making it harder for new male artists to cut through with something fresh. Plus, Jer digs into the ongoing reality that Black pop stars like Khalid, Josh Levi, and more continue to be overlooked or shoved into the R&B box: even when their music is pure, undeniable pop excellence.

Whether you're a chart-watcher, a future A&R exec, or just wondering where the next Harry/Bieber/Bruno-level moment is hiding, this episode is going to have you thinking, reminiscing, and debating all week long. Hit follow, send to your pop-loving group chat, and keep winding down with us every week. HOLLAAA
