À propos de ce contenu audio

Jazzy, Jimmy, and Phreddie met in the mid-90s at a model railroad workshop. For the next 25 years, they have talked and talked and talked. Usually, Phreddie, Jimmy, and Jazzy spoke on the phone, and occasionally, they organized trips together. With the universal acceptance of Zoom conferencing, they began to meet every Tuesday, to continue their friendship. The podcast is Jazzy’s fault. He initiated the idea, and Jimmy and Phreddie agreed mostly because all we had to do was talk, and it is more interesting to do something together, than it is to chat together. Their conversations are centered on a weekly topic or prompt. Essentially, the podcast is a recording of their weekly conversations, with some awareness of an imaginary audience. Throughout their years of friendship, they have leaned on each other, shared notes and stories, and helped each other navigate the complexities and challenges of a life well-lived.Copyright 2026 Jazzy, Jimmy, and Phreddie Sciences sociales Spiritualité

    • Awakening Practices from PRACTICAL WORK ON SELF, "Booby du Jour", Part One
      Feb 8 2026

In this episode, The Three-Headed Man explores themes of self-observation and the mechanical nature of human behavior.

They discuss the concept of "fainting" into unconscious routines, suggesting that people often move through life in a trance-like state without true presence. To combat this, they propose "voluntarizing" automatic habits, such as fidgeting or unconscious gestures, by performing them with deliberate intent. This practice is presented as a way to break the scene of habitual life and reclaim willpower over the biological machine.

Ultimately, the dialogue emphasizes the importance of impartial self-study and accepting one's imperfections without shame to achieve a higher state of awareness.

    • Awakening Practices from PRACTICAL WORK ON SELF, "Negative Manifestation", Part Two
      Feb 1 2026

The Three-Headed Man discusses their experiences practicing self-observation exercises from PRACTICAL WORK ON SELF chapter three negative manifestation.

The conversation centers on the concept of the human machine, with the participants exploring how much of their daily behavior is merely automatic habit rather than conscious action. They share personal anecdotes, such as Jim's heightened awareness while skiing and Fred's discovery of a specific facial tic associated with judgmental thoughts. Jazzy reflects on his tendency to emotionally absorb his clients' financial stresses, noting how difficult it is to remain a detached observer.

Ultimately, the group examines the Heisenberg principle as applied to the self, suggesting that the act of observing one’s own "mechanical" reactions can fundamentally alter them.

    • Awakening Practices from PRACTICAL WORK ON SELF, "Negative Manifestations", Part One
      Jan 25 2026

This podcast features a deep dive into Chapter 3, "Negative Manifestations," from the book Practical Work on Self by E.J. Gold. The Three-Headed Man explore the idea that human life is often lived in a dream-like state, and "waking up" requires a disciplined study of what the sources call the "machine"—the automatic, conditioned personality.

The Three-Headed Man explores the fundamental concept of the "machine," a complex formation of automatically proceeding associations that constitutes a person's sense of identity. This machine is described as a set of biological and psychological conditions necessary for survival, yet it is distinct from the non-phenomenal self, which is the true source of presence and attention. One participant expresses the motivation for this work as wanting to be "a god," seeking a state of existence that is not subject to the automatic "whims of mere mortals" and the mundane requirements of daily life. This desire reflects the core objective of the study: to "wake up" from a life that is otherwise lived as a dream.

A central theme is that almost every human action—including postures, gestures, and facial masks—is a form of negative manifestation. These are not consciously chosen; instead, individuals are "propelled" by associations, sliding into "character" masks much like an actor, though usually without awareness. The sources emphasize that the primary tool for transformation is the will of attention. By observing the machine's motor manifestations, the observer slightly alters what is being observed and activates higher "sentrums" or centers of intelligence. Crucially, the aim is not to control the machine, but to study its manifestations in detail, as if studying a foreign piece of equipment, to understand the "immense power" it holds over the self.

The podcast highlights several rigorous exercises designed to expose the machine's automatic nature, such as creating an "encyclopedia" list of all motor manifestations, especially those used to bury feelings of personal insecurity. Other tasks include mirror work—practicing these manifestations to learn how to invoke their sensations at will—and stifling all involuntary negative manifestations for a single hour. The participants acknowledge the immense difficulty of this work, noting that the machine's habits move faster than the speed of light. They observe that while the concepts may seem clear during study, they often "wash out" or disappear shortly after, demonstrating how challenging it is to maintain the state of observation against the machine's constant activity.
