  • The Scottish Feminist Judgements Project: Part 1

    On this episode of The Review, we speak to Professor Sharon Cowan, Dr Chloë Kennedy and Professor Vanessa Munro about their work on the Scottish Feminist Judgements Project and the role of feminist legal theory generally, with a particular focus on legal education in Scotland.


    Sharon Cowan is a Professor of Feminist and Queer Legal Studies at the University of Edinburgh. She obtained her LLB from the University of Strathclyde, and subsequently undertook a Master of Philosophy in Criminology at the University of Cambridge. She worked at the London School of Economics as a researcher before completing her PhD at Brunel University. Having lectured at the University of Warwick for three years prior, she joined the University of Edinburgh in 2004.


    Chloë Kennedy is a Senior Lecturer in Criminal Law at the University of Edinburgh. She obtained an LLB from the University of Glasgow and worked as a legal assistant with the Scottish Law Commission for a year, before undertaking an LLM and subsequently a PhD at the University of Edinburgh. She took up a lectureship position there in criminal law in 2013 and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2019.


    Vanessa Munro is a Professor at the University of Warwick School of Law. She undertook her LLB at the University of Glasgow and moved straight into studying her PhD there after graduating. She has taken up academic positions at a number of UK universities, including holding chairs at the Universities of Nottingham and Leicester, as well as visiting scholar roles at universities in Australia, New Zealand and the US. She joined the University of Warwick in 2016.


    Together, Sharon, Chloë and Vanessa coordinated the academic strand of the Scottish Feminist Judgements Project, which was published in December 2019.
