Today we will continue our sermon series in the book of Jeremiah called Jeremiah: The Prophet and His Message. Pastor Mike Engbers shares a sermon called "The Prophet: Jeremiah's Call". The Scripture passages are Jeremiah 1:4-19 and John 1:6-17.
Jeremiah is called to ministry, he feels ill equipped but God promises He will equip him. The promise for Jeremiah is not one of peace but of struggle and strife for Judah. We are not called into the good, but into the broken. What are we being called into? Do we avoid God’s calling seeking only what is good for us, are we willing to go where there is struggle and brokenness? We are called to serve the risen King. We are equipped not by ourselves, but by God through His spirit.
