The One Moment Rule Podcast with Rita & Vanita is a raw, honest mother-daughter conversation about real-life emotional patterns, unconscious patterns, why we repeat them, and the one moment where something can begin to shift.

We talk about topics including people-pleasing, overthinking, guilt, boundaries, family roles, self-trust, emotional reactions, and the everyday moments that make us shut down, over-explain, say yes, stay quiet, or keep the peace at the cost of ourselves.

The One Moment Rule - Pause. Choose. Shift was formed from real low points, repeated patterns, and the feeling of wanting to understand why we kept responding in ways that no longer helped us.

This podcast is not about shaming the pattern. It is about understanding why it happens, how it formed, and how one moment of awareness can help you respond differently.

One moment can shift everything.

  • Why Does One Small Comment Ruin Our Whole Mood?
    Jun 10 2026

Have you ever had one small comment completely change your mood?

Someone says, “You look tired,” “You’re being sensitive,” or their tone just feels a bit off - and suddenly you’re overthinking, replaying the conversation, questioning yourself, or feeling off for the rest of the day.

In this episode of The One Moment Rule Podcast, we explore why small comments can feel so big inside.

We talk about emotional patterns, overthinking, insecurity, sensitivity, old feelings, fear of being judged, and why a passing comment can sometimes touch something much deeper than the words themselves.

This conversation is not about calling yourself “too sensitive” or shaming your reaction. It is about understanding what the comment touched, what meaning you attached to it, and how The One Moment Rule can help you pause before one small moment takes over your whole mood.

    In this episode, we explore:

Why one small comment can affect your whole day
Why tone, short replies or casual remarks can feel personal
How emotional patterns can make small moments feel bigger
The difference between what someone said and what you heard
    Why we replay comments afterwards
How to pause before reacting, defending, shutting down or overthinking
A simple question to ask yourself: “What did this comment touch in me?”

If you have ever thought, “Why did that affect me so much?” this episode is for you.

Breaking unconscious patterns, one moment at a time.

  • Why Do We Stay Around People Who Aren’t Good for Us?
    Jun 3 2026

Have you ever known someone was not good for you… but still felt the need to stay?

Maybe it was because of history.
Maybe it was because of guilt.
Maybe it was because part of you still hoped things would change.
Or maybe the connection felt familiar, even if it did not feel healthy.

In this episode of The One Moment Rule Podcast, Rita and Vanita talk about why we stay around people who are not good for us - not from a place of judgement, but from a place of understanding.

We explore why familiar dynamics can feel safer than healthier ones, why hope can keep us attached, and why guilt can make leaving feel wrong even when staying is costing us.

This episode is for anyone who has ever asked:

    “Why am I still here?”

You’ll hear us talk about: why familiarity can feel like safety

    • how guilt keeps old relationship patterns in place
    • why hope can make it hard to let go
    • how The One Moment Rule can help you notice the moment before you abandon yourself again

The One Moment Rule is our framework for recognising the moment before an old pattern takes over:

    Pause. Choose. Shift.

Pause to recognise what is happening.
Choose to regulate emotions before reacting.
Shift by responding differently and rebuilding self-trust.

If this episode makes you think of someone who keeps staying, send it to them gently.

And if you want more conversations like this, follow The One Moment Rule Podcast and come back next Wednesday.

  • Why Do We Keep Repeating Patterns We Know Are Not Helping Us?
    May 27 2026

Why do we keep repeating patterns we know are not helping us - even when part of us wants to respond differently?

In this first full episode of The One Moment Rule Podcast, Rita and Vanita talk honestly about emotional patterns, unconscious patterns, people-pleasing, overthinking, guilt, boundaries and why familiar responses can feel safer than healthier ones.

We explore why logic does not always stop an old reaction in the moment, how patterns can begin as protection, why guilt can make change feel wrong, and how one moment of awareness can help you start breaking unconscious patterns without shaming yourself for having them.

We are not here to shame the pattern. We are here to understand why it happens.

    One moment can shift everything.
