  • S1E10 After the Broadcast: 8.03.2023
    Aug 4 2023
Join us for this week’s podcast as we continue week four of our book read by Dr. Yolanda Pierce, IN MY GRANDMOTHER’S HOUSE: BLACK WOMEN, FAITH AND THE STORIES WE INHERIT. We spend time with chapters 6-8 and reflect on being fully present, operating in tender love and having safety. Take a listen and make some time to consider how you are called to be fully present in the world with those in need, those suffering, those grieving wherever, whenever those injustices occur. Be reminded that it’s okay to be tender and gentle with ourselves, and understand how that impacts those with whom we interact as well. Finally, we connect being saved with being safe in a question that begs us to consider and be responsive to the temporal as well as the eternal. Thank you for taking the time to join us here, and catch us next week for our final episode of Season One as we wrap our book read with the last four chapters, 9-12. Until then, be good to yourself and speak tenderly to the spaces within you that are in need. See you next week!

In this week’s podcast episode, we revisit our 7.27.2023 broadcast of “MTT LIVE with The Niche Pastor” in week three of our book read. Dr. Yolanda Pierce’s work, “In My Grandmother’s House: Black Women, Faith and the Stories We Inherit” takes us through the journey of hands, leaving and silences in chapters 3-5. We’re invited to do our own soulwork and reflect on our journeys with a couple questions and intentional pauses. As you listen, consider picking up a copy of the book and joining us for the final two weeks of our book read. We look at chapters 6-8 next week and chapters 9-12 the final week. If you’d like to join us on FB LIVE, we’d love to have you Thursdays at 7:15PM Eastern on The Niche Pastor page. As always, thanks for listening, be blessed and live intentionally!

  • S1E8 After the Broadcast: 7.20.2023
    Jul 21 2023
Join us for our recap from this week’s broadcast of “MTT LIVE with The Niche Pastor.” We spend our second week with our book read of “In My Grandmother’s House: Black Women, Faith and the Stories We Inherit” by Dr. Yolanda Piece. As we share in conversation, capture a few highlights about the significance of considering one’s lived experience as context for the theology we carry, develop, and even discard. So, grab a coffee/tea/water and settle in for a good listen. Then, if you haven’t grabbed a copy of the book in some format, do that and start your own reading journey. Next week: chapters three, four and five are on deck! And always, thank you for listening and being a part of The Niche Pastor family. If you’d like to support our work and content creation, please visit us on our Patreon page (patreon.com/thenichepastor) and become a patron today! Until next week…Blessings, The Niche Pastor!

  • S1E7 After the Broadcast: 7.13.2023
    Jul 14 2023
It’s our first book read, and we’re excited to bring you another “After the Broadcast” recap. In this week’s “MTT LIVE with The Niche Pastor,” we spend time together in Dr. Yolanda Pierce’s book, “In My Grandmother’s House: Black Women, Faith and the Stories We Inherit.” We journey through new and familiar terms (paradosis, womanism, womanist theology, grandmother theology and more). In her recap, Dr. LaKendra offers us some questions for reflecting on our own faith narrative and religious legacy. Grab a pen or keyboard and spend time in your weekend or week ahead looking at these questions: 1) what is the religious legacy you’ve inherited, and how do you keep it alive? 2) how has faith been birthed in and nurtured for you? 3) what is your prayer posture, what are your prayer practices, and what is your prayer language? You can join us for the weeks ahead as we continue our book read by meeting us on The Niche Pastor’s Facebook page Thursdays at 7:15PM Eastern when we go LIVE. Oh, and pick up a copy of the book (hardback, paperback, digital and audio) from your favorite vendor and come learn with us! Can’t wait to continue the work together! Have a great week until we meet again, and as always, thank you for listening!
