  • PawedCast Episode 542: Tampa Bay Friendly, McGuire Traded, OCB Beats Cincinnati, and More
    Jul 14 2026
Orlando City welcomed I-4 Derby rival Tampa Bay to Inter&Co Stadium for a friendly match on Wednesday and then proceeded to bludgeon the Rowdies with a couple of hammers named Antoine Griezmann and Justin Ellis. The two attackers combined for a goal and four assists in a 6-0 beatdown of the team from the Gulf Coast, with five different Lions scoring and Griffin Dorsey forcing an own goal. We discuss Griezmann's first minutes with Orlando City, what the team showed in its formation, and how good Justin Ellis' vision is. Oh, and it's also transfer season now. Duncan McGuire is on his way out and Marco Pasalic reportedly will follow soon, while a new left back may be headed from Spain to Orlando. Following all of that, we discuss Maxime Crepeau being added to the MLS All-Star Team and the announcement that he'll participate in the 2026 MLS All-Star Skills Challenge. Our mailbagbox asked us about which World Cup semifinalist players we'd want to join Orlando this season (if we could only pick one), and more. Remember, if there’s anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the show, just ask us by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC, or hitting us up on Bluesky Social with that same hashtag. After the mailbagbox, we dive into OCB's 2-1 road win at FC Cincinnati 2. It wasn't the prettiest game by the Young Lions, but they managed to do enough to earn three points on the road, where they'll stay to face Chattanooga on Saturday. We briefly preview that game. Finally, Orlando City will be in Dallas Wednesday for the second of two friendlies leading up to the restart of the MLS season. It's unlikely we'll get a lot of details about that one, but we'll see what happens. Maybe the FC Dallas folks will help us out. Be sure to rate and review our show wherever you get your podcasts. Remember, we'll read any five-star reviews we get on Apple Podcasts on the next show. Here’s how No. 542 went down: 0:15 – Orlando City crushed the Rowdies, the transfer season is in full swing, plus: hey now, Crepeau's an all-star. 28:50 – The mailbagbox is always good for a hypothetical scenario. 36:54 – The Young Lions slipped past Cincy and head to Chattanooga, while the senior Lions head to Dallas. • PawedCast Episode 541: OCB at Crown Legacy, USMNT, and More
    Jul 8 2026
Orlando City B came from behind on the road but still wasted multiple good opportunities in a 1-1 road draw against Crown Legacy. The Young Lions then dropped their second straight penalty shootout, earning just a single point for the second week in a row. We opened this week's show with a brief discussion about a team that seems to be struggling on offense a bit. From there, we pivot into discussion of the USMNT's loss to Belgium and all of the madness that led up to it. The bottom line is that most of our concerns about the team showed up on the same day, and unfortunately, that was on a day the U.S. was playing a good European side for the right to go to the World Cup quarterfinals. Our mailbagbox asked us about USMNT players as MLS players, the Flo Balogun saga, and more. Remember, if there’s anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the show, just ask us by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC, or hitting us up on Bluesky Social with that same hashtag. After the mailbagbox, we set the table for OCB's trip to FC Cincinnati 2 on Sunday and discuss the kinds of things we might see in Orlando City's friendly today against the Tampa Bay Rowdies in front of the club's supporters and Season Ticket Members. Be sure to rate and review our show wherever you get your podcasts. Remember, we'll read any five-star reviews we get on Apple Podcasts on the next show. If you’d like to support our independent writing and podcasting efforts, we’d love to have you as a subscriber or donor over at our Buy Me a Coffee site. Here’s how No. 541 went down: 0:15 – OCB hung around with another top Eastern Conference team but could not bring all three points home. Plus, the USMNT crashed, burned, and then had its ashes scattered to the four corners of the Earth by Belgium. 26:11 – The mailbagbox asks for predictions. We like those, because we already know we're bad at them, and yet people keep asking for them. 34:32 – The Lions host an I-4 Derby friendly and OCB heads to the greater Cincinnati area. • PawedCast Episode 540: OCB-Columbus, World Cup, Griezmann, and More
    Jun 30 2026
Orlando City B is anything but predictable. Sunday night, after a lengthy weather delay, the Young Lions looked ready to concede on any number of occasions. They finally did, but then they bounced back to take a second-half lead (seemingly their favorite game script), and just when they were moments away from a win in a huge Eastern Conference matchup against the Columbus Crew, they conceded off a defensive third turnover and then lost the ensuing penalty shootout, dropping two points from a position to win all three. We briefly touch on the match and especially the painful, decisive play. We touched on the World Cup, including Paraguay's improbable elimination of Germany in one of the wildest penalty shootouts in terms of momentum swings, and discussed the USMNT's loss to Turkey. Our mailbagbox asked us about changing international allegiances, Mexican internationals playing in Orlando, and more. Remember, if there’s anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the show, just ask us by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC, or hitting us up on Bluesky Social with that same hashtag. Antoine Griezmann is finally in town and training with his new Orlando City teammates. We talked about what that means for an OCSC side that needs to figure out the defensive side of the game. Even attacking players can elevate a team's defense. We also discussed the friendlies Orlando City has scheduled prior to the restart of the MLS season. Will Griezmann play against the Tampa Bay Rowdies? That would be a quick introduction to club history! Finally, we touched on OCB's upcoming match against Crown Legacy on the road. It's another team at the top of the Eastern Conference and Crown Legacy can score goals in bunches. The Young Lions have to figure out the defensive side of the game to take their next step. If you’d like to support our independent writing and podcasting efforts, we’d love to have you as a subscriber or donor over at our Buy Me a Coffee site. Here’s how No. 540 went down: 0:15 – OCB drops points and World Cup teams could use more Orlando City players if they want to advance in the knockout stages. 20:10 – A multi-part question based on a hypothetical situation? That sounds like our mailbagbox. 33:02 – Griezmann is on site and OCB heads to Matthews, NC. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

  • PawedCast Episode 539: OCB-Philly, USMNT Beats Australia, and More
    Jun 23 2026
We went from a short show last week to a marathon this week, as we had a lot of ground to cover and a special guest! We're joined this week by The Mane Land senior columnist Ben Miller, giving us three in the booth for the first time in a while. We opened the show with a brief discussion of the report out of Europe that Orlando is in play for AC Milan and Mexican international forward Santiago Gimenez. None of us think it's happening — at least not at the price as reported. It's nice to be linked with all of the rumors again with Antoine Griezmann obviously having an effect. After our transfer rumor discussion, we discuss OCB's home loss to Philadelphia Union II, which was unexpected the way the Young Lions have been playing. In truth, OCB should have gotten something from the game, but they were wasteful in front of goal, so creating far more chances meant nothing with all of the shots hitting the Philly goalkeeper in the chest. Ben was then given his time to shine, as he has just returned from Seattle, where he watched the U.S. Men's National Team's win over Australia, including former Lion Alex Freeman's first World Cup goal. It was great to get the vibe of such a momentous piece of USMNT history from someone who was there to experience it. Big thanks to Ben for spending some time with us and discussing not only the match itself, but also Freeman's continued development and how Mauricio Pochettino might approach the final group stage match against Turkey on Thursday night. Our mailbagbox was chock full, so we tried to go quickly, but you can only do so much. Our listeners wanted to know about the World Cup, Orlando City's biggest need, and much more. Remember, if there’s anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the show, just ask us by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC, or hitting us up on Bluesky Social with that same hashtag. Finally, we looked ahead to OCB's showdown Sunday at home against Eastern Conference leader Columbus Crew 2. It's a chance for the Young Lions to get redemption for Sunday's loss to Philadelphia and get back on track. 539 went down: 0:15 – A forward is linked with OCSC and OCB's streak-snapping loss. 21:02 – A firsthand account of the USMNT's huge win over Australia. 1:09:48 – Our mailbagbox and a brief preview of OCB-Crew 2. • PawedCast Episode 538: OCB-Huntsville Rewind, World Cup, USMNT, and More
    Jun 16 2026
Orlando City B is the lone team still playing through the World Cup and by golly we're going to reward them for that by talking about the Young Lions. This week, they took to the road to face Huntsville City in Alabama and brought all three points back with them after a 2-1 comeback win. For the second straight game, the Young Lions started the game a bit lethargically and fell behind. But OCB is nothing if not resilient. The team kicked it into gear in the second half and grabbed a hard-fought three points on the road. We discuss the match, including how Matthew Belgodere suddenly can't stop scoring and Parker Amoo-Mensah has earned his shiny new MLS NEXT Pro contract. After our OCB-Carolina Core rewind, we discussed the USMNT's 4-1 beatdown of Paraguay in the team's World Cup opener. Former Lion Alex Freeman was one of several players who shone brightly in the opener, which hopefully will provide some momentum going up against Australia this week. We discussed the unexpected joy of watching the U.S. playe like one of the world's soccer super powers, even if it was only one game. We also look ahead to Sunday's OCB match at home against Philadelphia Union II. Sunday's visitors don't score a lot, but they also don't concede many goals. If OCB can keep things rolling, it would be a big step toward getting a decent postseason seed, although there is a lot of soccer yet to be played. I was supposed to do the mailbagbox next but it's out of order. It's fine. You'll figure it out. Our mailbagbox is timely, asking about which Lion will ultimately finish their career with the most caps for their national team. Our vote was split. Remember, if there’s anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the show, just ask us by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC, or hitting us up on Bluesky Social with that same hashtag. If you’d like to support our independent writing and podcasting efforts, we’d love to have you as a subscriber or donor over at our Buy Me a Coffee site. Here’s how No. 538 went down: 0:15 – OCB won on the road despite a poor start, and the U.S. started and ended strong against South American competition. 24:02 – OCB is back at home Sunday, looking to add more points to its 2026 total. 29:04 – Our mailbagbox asks us to predict the future. • PawedCast Episode 537: OCB-Carolina Core, USMNT-Germany, and More
    Jun 9 2026
Orlando City is still off for the World Cup break, but OCB is not. We open this week's show with a little-longer-than-usual look at the Young Lions' 3-2 comeback win over Carolina Core FC on Sunday. It wasn't easy, and it certainly wasn't OCB's best performance of the year, but the job ultimately got done. We discuss the lethargic start, the red card/penalty that changed everything, and a second half that wasn't looking like it would be good enough until it ultimately was. After our OCB-Carolina Core rewind, we discussed the USMNT's 2-1 loss to Germany. The Yanks hung around, but this is a team that is supposed to be about more than hanging around. At some point, you must beat a good European team just to be taken seriously, never mind winning a World Cup. But hey, that was quite a goal by Antonee Robinson, wasn't it? Our mailbagbox is super full this week, asking us to wager (nothing) on a parlay, select Orlando City preferences, and pick the hardest shooter, among other things. Remember, if there’s anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the show, just ask us by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC, or hitting us up on Bluesky Social with that same hashtag. After the mailbagbox, we look ahead to Saturday's OCB match on the road at Huntsville City. The Nashville affiliate poses some challenges, and the teams look to be evenly matched. Can the Young Lions stop bleeding goals while continuing to score them? We'll see. 537 went down: 0:15 – OCB got three points that might not have been earned against a full-strength squad, and the USMNT continues to have a defense prone to breakage as World Cup matches loom. 25:34 – Our mailbagbox is all over the map...including the greater Seattle area. 49:26 – OCB won but should still try to bounce back from a bit of a lethargic performance for most of its win on Sunday when it travels to Huntsville. • PawedCast Episode 536: USMNT-Senegal, OCB-Chattanooga, and More
    Jun 2 2026
With Orlando City off until mid-July, we start this week's show with a brief discussion of the United States Men's National Team's friendly win over Senegal on Sunday. Former Lion Alex Freeman continues to impress at the international level, and the U.S. was able to hang with a good African side despite blowing a lead and changing most of the squad at halftime. It may not mean much for the World Cup, but it's good to see the USMNT playing tough against good sides from around the world. Germany is up next. We then turned our attention toward OCB's win over Chattanooga at home on Sunday. The Young Lions threw away their early lead before halftime, but then they sprung to life in the second half and dominated the second half, scoring four unanswered goals to win 5-2. We break down OCB's win, which sprung the team toward the top of the Eastern Conference table. Our mailbagbox asked us which OCB players might play well enough to earn first-team minutes after the World Cup break. Remember, if there’s anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the show, just ask us by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC, or hitting us up on Bluesky Social with that same hashtag. After the mailbagbox, we prepare for OCB's upcoming match with Carolina Core FC. The Young Lions have a chance to keep things rolling against one of the teams low in the Eastern Conference. We discuss where the teams are relative to one another in the table and which players OCB will need to keep tabs on. Be sure to rate and review our show wherever you get your podcasts. Here’s how No. 536 went down: 0:15 – The USMNT picked up an impressive win over Senegal and OCB continues to score goals, hanging five on Chattanooga on Sunday. 17:50 – Our mailbagbox takes an interest in the Young Lions. 26:11 – OCB welcomes Carolina Core to Kissimmee on Sunday. • PawedCast Episode 535: Cincinnati Rewind, OCB-Inter Miami II, and More
    May 26 2026
Orlando City should just stay home for road games. The Lions' latest massacre took place Saturday in Cincinnati. They started the match well, pressing aggressively and taking an early lead, but then the tired legs and lack of rotation began to show and it got worse throughout the match with the brief exception of Martin Ojeda tying the game early in the second half. From that point on, it was just the latest in a series of lopsided road beatings that keep Orlando City firmly on course for the worst defensive record in MLS history. We look back at the match, check our score predictions, make our selections for Man of the Match, and discuss the lack of rotation at the end of a heavy week of fixtures. Following our FC Cincinnati rewind, we discussed Marco Pasalic's comments on Instagram that seem to indicate his departure is imminent. The Lions could do the funniest thing ever and highjack Miami's Casemiro deal, but we're not expecting that, even if it might be what Orlando needs to help shield the leakiest defensive unit in the league. Our mailbagbox asked us about the number of players who have played a minute for the club in 2026 but may not do so again the rest of the season. Hey, it's a complex question. Remember, if there’s anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the show, just ask us by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC, or hitting us up on Bluesky Social with that same hashtag. After the mailbagbox, we discussed Orlando City B's 4-1 win over Inter Miami CF II on Sunday night and we look ahead to OCB's upcoming match Sunday against Chattanooga. Be sure to rate and review our show wherever you get your podcasts. Remember, we'll read any five-star reviews we get on Apple Podcasts on the next show. Here’s how No. 535 went down: 0:15 – The Lions once again were taken out behind the woodshed in a road match. Plus, Marco Pasalic says "thank you" but does he mean goodbye? 24:56 – Our mailbagbox wants to know which players won't play more minutes in 2026. 31:18 – OCB blows out Inter Miami II and will try to climb higher in the table at home this weekend against Chattanooga.
