  • Louisiana Weather 3/6 Morning - 51° Above Normal
    Mar 6 2026
Good morning. Louisiana. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside and you'll feel something unusual for early March. We're already sitting at 69 degrees. And we're just getting started. This afternoon brings a taste of summer. Highs climb into the mid 80s statewide. Baton Rouge hits 85 degrees by 2 P.M. New Orleans reaches 81 by 4 P.M. Shreveport tops out at 85 by 5 P.M. We're running 51 degrees above normal for early March. Flirting with record territory. But warmth brings instability. Scattered thunderstorms fire up between noon and 5 P.M. Across most of the state. Expect lightning and gusty winds up to 50 miles an hour. Nothing severe, but enough to rattle the afternoon if you're outdoors. Tonight stays mild. Lows only drop to around 69 or 70 degrees. Mostly cloudy skies. Southeast winds keep that humid air locked in place. Saturday starts the same way. Partly sunny, highs in the low 80s. But afternoon storms return with higher chances. A 50 percent chance along the coast, climbing to 70 percent in the Capital Region. Northwest Louisiana sees near certainty by afternoon. Heavy rain becomes likely there, with totals between half an inch and three quarters of an inch possible. Sunday is the big weather day. A weakening frontal boundary stalls overhead, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms. Expect an 80 percent chance of rain across most of the state. This is the soaking we've been waiting for. Much needed rainfall to ease drought conditions. Strong winds and lightning remain possible. The front lingers into early next week, keeping daily rain chances alive through Wednesday. Temperatures ease back slightly but stay warm. Mid 80s holding through Tuesday before dropping to the upper 70s by Thursday. Grab your umbrella before you head out this weekend. You'll need it. See you tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast See you tomorrow.

  • Louisiana Weather March 5 Midday - 54° Above Normal
    Mar 5 2026
Good afternoon. Louisiana. I'm Aaron Jolly. We picked up three-quarters of an inch overnight. Step outside right now and you're greeted by 77 degrees of sticky, humid air that feels ripped straight from June. Welcome to Louisiana in March. In the next 24 hours. We're running 54 degrees to 54 degrees above normal, flirting with record territory. And this warm spell isn't budging anytime soon. Southeast Louisiana tops out at 80 this afternoon under mostly sunny skies. There's a slight chance of a quick thunderstorm around midday, but most of you stay dry. Tonight drops to 67 with patchy fog developing after 3 A.M., especially near Lake Pontchartrain and the Northshore. The Capital Region climbs to 82 today — partly sunny with a brief thunderstorm possible late this afternoon. Tonight holds at 67 under mostly cloudy skies. Northwest Louisiana sees the warmest temps — 84 degrees under mostly sunny skies. You'll cool to 65 tonight with partly cloudy conditions and a gentle south breeze. Friday brings more of the same. Southeast Louisiana reaches 81 with morning fog clearing by 7 A.M., then a chance of storms around noon. The Capital Region hits 86 — our hottest reading — with isolated storms possible in the afternoon. Northwest Louisiana climbs to 85 with a slight chance of showers after noon. For the weekend. Saturday brings scattered thunderstorms, some potentially strong, with highs in the low 80s. Sunday turns unsettled with showers and thunderstorms likely, especially after 7 A.M. Rain totals could reach 2 to 4 inches through the weekend — much-needed relief for our drought conditions. Monday stays mostly cloudy with lingering storm chances. Tuesday and Wednesday look partly sunny with highs in the low to mid-80s. Keep an eye on the sky this weekend. Those storms could pack a punch. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

  • Louisiana Weather March 5 Morning - 49° Above Normal
    Mar 5 2026
Good morning. Louisiana. I'm Aaron Jolly. That overnight rain dropped eight-tenths of an inch and left us with a gift. Dense fog hugging the coast. A Dense Fog Advisory runs until 10 A.M. For Lower Terrebonne. Lower Lafourche. Coastal Jefferson. And Lower Plaquemines. Visibility could drop to a quarter mile. If you're driving, take it slow and use those low beams. In the next 24 hours. Here's the big story today. We're running hot. 49 degrees to 49 degrees above normal for early March. Near-record territory, folks. Down in Southeast Louisiana, that morning fog burns off to partly sunny skies. You'll hit 80 degrees this afternoon. A slight chance of a shower pops up between 3 and 5 P.M., but most of you stay dry. Tonight, patchy fog rolls back in after 3 A.M. With a low of 68. Up in the Capital Region, same deal. Patchy fog clears by mid-morning, then partly sunny and 84 degrees. That's exceptionally warm. Showers are possible between 2 and 5 P.M. Tonight drops to 67 with more fog developing late. Over in Northwest Louisiana, no rain today. Just partly sunny skies and 84 degrees. South winds pick up to 15 miles an hour with higher gusts. Tonight stays dry at 67. Friday keeps the warmth going. Low to mid-80s again. But rain chances climb. Showers and thunderstorms become more widespread Friday night into Saturday. Sunday looks particularly wet across the state. Then the pattern flips. A cold front sweeps through Wednesday, dropping temperatures significantly. Enjoy this early taste of spring while it lasts. Cooler air is waiting in the wings. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
