I'm still figuring this out. Here's the transcript, semi-edited!
# The Learning Rabbithole: Podcast Introduction
Clea Mahoney: [00:00:00] All right, so here we are. I thought I recorded, uh, an episode. Apparently I didn't. I'm very clearly figuring all of this out as I go along and I'm kind of sad about it because that was a really good intro. But you know what? Sometimes retakes are better. Let's go. Okay, this is your podcast introduction to the Learning Rabbit Hole.
It is something that I, Clea, am doing as a side passion project. I don't wanna spend a lot of time on it. I don't even wanna follow a set schedule. Basically I'm not gonna follow all of that advice that's out there about how to get good at podcasting 'cause that's not my goal.
The world is full of podcasts. Many of them are good, many of them are polished and edited and have fancy music and fancy speakers, and this is not gonna be that. So if you are hoping for that, uh, thank you for listening and goodbye. If you're still [00:01:00] here, then I hope you'll join me in upcoming episodes.
I hope that the title is available for me. I came up with it while driving my child to daycare, and it was inspired by working with my team at Rewst. So shout outs to Lauren and Eddie. Very often when we're chatting one-on-one or as a team, almost inevitably we'll get to this point where one of us will go, Ooh, I thought of something, but don't wanna go down a rabbit hole.
Uh, we care very much about education, work, training, instructional design, the stuff that we do. And, you know, sometimes we can't go down those rabbit holes because we gotta get back to work and do those things, accomplish those projects. But I want this podcast to be about making time for those rabbit holes.
Sometimes those rabbit holes will be learning about learning. So gong very [00:02:00] metacognition in terms of instructional design and how we as human beings learn and, you know, what does AI mean for all of that? Um, this is not gonna be a podcast dedicated solely to ai, but I'm sure we'll touch on it like everyone has to these days.
Sometimes it'll just be me ranting or rambling into a microphone, uh, about whatever rabbit hole I'm excited to take you down. And sometimes it'll be me speaking with guests about a rabbit hole of their choosing a rabbit hole that in some way, even tangentially, has to do with adult learning instructional design.
Training, customer education, higher education, uh, anything about how we learn and yeah, what helps us refine that craft and just get excited about learning. I think there's a lot of doom and gloom in the world. Um, and while I [00:03:00] might rant sometimes, I don't want this to be a doom and gloom podcast. I want it to be one where we nerd out about learning, uh, learning about learning, chatting about instructional design, um, maybe even chatting about compliance courses, which can be super boring, right?
But maybe there's an episode there about how we make them. Hopefully this recording works and I hope that you'll join me for the next episode, whether it's me or whether it's with a guest. Can't wait to take you down the learning rabbit hole with me.
