Two months ago, on Good Friday, I was asked by my church “The Welcome Missionary Baptist Church” to reflect on the first two words of the Seven Words, which were spoken by Jesus Christ during his crucifixion on the Cross of Calvary.

I had a brief conversation with Daniela Bushiri on Memorial Day. Born in Congo, raised in South Africa, Daniela is a third-year PHD student at Columbia University in New York City; she studies Chemical Engineering.

I discussed a book recommendation that I recently wrote as a medium article. The book traces Liberia’s history, particularly US-Liberia relations from the 1820’s to 2015, outlining the role the US military played in the founding of Liberia and safeguarding the nation during the era of European colonization.
