  • Why Are Thousands of FUSD Retirees Cut Off From Health Care? | Unfiltered #279
    Jan 14 2026

Will California's New Guns Laws Make Us Safer? Or Violate 2nd Amendment? Several new gun bills becoming law in California in 2026, gun rights advocates and gun control supporters have sharply different views on the reasoning behind the legislation and its effects. The new laws address how firearms are stored in homes, expand the list of banned guns, and streamline gun violence restraining orders. We will discuss these laws with our special guest Leon Orndoff Armorer / Gunsmith and Owner of Duck and Cover Tactical in Fresno.

Why Are Thousands of FUSD Retirees Cut Off From Health Care? Community Health and Fresno Unified's health insurance provider, Aetna, failed to reach a contract agreement, causing thousands to be denied care. Community encourages retirees to apply for "continuity of care," but the Fresno Teacher’s Association believes the provider can offer easier access to care. Fresno Unified should be proud of its self-funded health care plan. It is one of the few examples of a public system designed to pay for care, not pay for profit. The question is whether Fresno Unified will protect that legacy, or quietly outsource it away. We will find out with special guests Susan Wittrup Fresno Unified School Board Trustee Bullard Region, Emily Brandt Fresno Unified Retiree and Larry Moore Former President Fresno Teachers Association, Fresno Unified Retiree.
