    • Episode 5: Two Post-Apocalyptic Roaches
      Oct 24 2022

If two roaches were to survive the apocalypse, what do you reckon they'd talk about on the other side?

      • The difficulty of raising teenagers?
      • The question of who's REALLY in charge?
      • Should you ask for scissors at the front desk of a hotel, and if they refuse, is crying a good or a bad idea?
      • Is the ability to "read the room" problematic if you're prone to manipulating others? (Hint: probably)
      • or: Is THIS the Cosmic Joke?

In this episode, we get a sneak peak of a post-apocalyptic discussion between two decidedly NOT roach-like people: our host, Dr. Jayne DuBois, and guest Dr. Rachel Hammer, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Internal Medicine at Tulane School of Medicine.

    • Episode 4: The Joke is that You Actually Do Get the Joke
      Oct 6 2022

      This ain't your momma's Grey's Anatomy

Ever wonder what it's really like to go through medical training? Well, here are three very different perspectives: One "This is fine," and the other two in different rings of Dante's Hell.

In this episode, Dr. Jayne and her two "guesties" (guest + bestie), Dr. Brenton Murphy and Dr. Leena Pandya, talk about navigating college and medical school and why a med school mixer and a bachelorette party just don't mix.

What truly is the Cosmic Joke? Is the joke on those who "get" it, but are maybe struggling to find it funny right now? Tune in for more conversation and hilarity as guests tell it like it is and Dr. Jayne continues in her search for answers.

So... do you get The Joke yet?

    • Episode 3: Your Teenager is The Cosmic Joke
      Sep 15 2022

      "That is some unicorn shit."

Remaining calm in the face of teenage angst and rebellion is tough, no matter what you know of your teen's unformed prefrontal cortex.

      Enter Glen Gonzalez, parenting ninja.

He is sort of cheating — he's not only served in the military, he also has a Master of Social Work from the University of Washington, and he has been a pediatric mental health specialist at Seattle Children's Hospital, an in-home behavioral specialist for the Division of Developmental Disabilities, a regional team leader for the Racial Disproportionality Committee, and a member of the Racial Disparity Committee for Washington state’s Children’s Administration. He's currently a Lecturer at the University of Washington.

In this episode, Jayne and Glen work through the difficulties (and joys — there are joys, we swear) of being a parent, both biological and not. Is being a teenager The Cosmic Joke, or is having one The Joke?

Listen in for the love, the laughs, and the limits, reached and breached. Find out more about Dr. Jayne DuBois at The Cosmic Joke website: https://www.doyougetthejokeyet.com/
