A dramatic fire earlier this week destroyed a century-old industrial building at the foot of the Jacques-Cartier Bridge. A structure that may not have been famous, but played a surprisingly important role in Montreal’s history. The former Familex factory wasn’t just an old abandoned building, it’s the reason the Jacques-Cartier Bridge has that distinctive curve.
