Courageous Conversations For A Changing WorldPart One, Faith In Modern Times

    Sunday Edition with Anthony Corona

Thank you for joining us for our continuing Courageous Conversations, part of the Sunday Edition family podcast and digital media content services. This gathering brought together community members from across faith traditions and lived experiences for an honest exploration of spirituality, disability, advocacy, and the realities of navigating turbulent times.

Deep gratitude to Mark, Lorna, and Gabriel for their wisdom, vulnerability, and thoughtful leadership in the discussion. Thank you to everyone who listened on Corona FM, those who joined us live, and a special welcome to our new friend Judy. We are honored you found your way into this circle.

During this conversation, we reflected on the enduring words of Madeleine L Engle, drawing from her writings across decades and examining how her reflections continue to resonate today. Together, we spoke about facing the enemy and naming the enemy. We considered the theological image of the enemy as a once favored angel who chose the fall, and we examined how distraction and chaos function as tools that attempt to separate us from ourselves, from our faith, from our shared humanity, and from our higher power.

Although the conversation was framed within the Lenten season and included references to the Old and New Testament, this was not a conversation confined to Christianity. Participants explored the distinctions between faith, spirituality, and organized religion, affirming that spirituality does not equal religion and faith is not limited to any one tradition. We wrestled with doubt, polarization within our communities, and the challenge of holding onto faith in dark political and cultural moments.

We also examined how personal spirituality informs advocacy. How does our inner life shape our public voice. How do we carry faith into justice work. How do we quiet the noise designed to fracture and divide us, especially within disability and faith communities. These questions formed the heartbeat of the evening.

Next Conversation, Thursday at 8 PM Eastern

Our second Courageous Conversation will center on forgiveness. We will explore what we have described as a trinity of forgiveness: extending forgiveness, accepting forgiveness, and forgiving for ones own spiritual balance. Drawing from our recent reflections on forgiveness within our own house, we will examine how silence can become permission, how speaking truth and offering grace can coexist, and how forgiveness functions not as weakness but as disciplined leadership. We will also reflect on the theological symbolism of the Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and what spiritual equilibrium looks like in a divided world.

  • Growing The Circle a Special Reading and Advocacy Conversation with Barbara Hinske
    Feb 22 2026

Sunday EditionGrowing the Circle with Barbara Hinske

Airing Sunday at 1 PM Eastern on 2020 The BeaconAvailable in your podcast feeds immediately after broadcast

This week on Sunday Edition, we gather for a rich and heartfelt conversation with author Barbara Hinske centered on her latest novel, Growing the Circle, part of the beloved Guiding Emily series.

Barbara shares how her journey into the world of Emily Main began through a charitable interaction with the Foundation Fighting Blindness, and how she chose to donate the proceeds of the first book in the series to support that mission. What began as generosity became a long term literary commitment to telling stories that reflect the lived experiences of the blind and low vision community with authenticity and warmth.

We explore the theme of second acts in life, including Emily’s own transition into vision loss, her partnership with her guide dog Garth, and the ever widening circle of relationships that shape her world. The novel beautifully examines how loss can lead to unexpected expansion, new purpose, and deeper connection.

Our conversation dives into advocacy woven seamlessly into storytelling. We discuss employment discrimination, assumptions about competence, parenting, assistive technology, and the subtle ways society questions blind and low vision individuals. Barbara shares how she listens closely to members of our community and thoughtfully incorporates those conversations into women’s fiction and comfort storytelling that invites reflection rather than defensiveness.

Growing the Circle is not simply a novel. It is a bridge between communities. It opens doors for friends, family members, coworkers, and readers to better understand the daily realities, frustrations, joys, and resilience of blind and low vision people.

We encourage you to read along and join us for our upcoming friends and family book discussion and advocacy gathering with Barbara. If you are interested in participating, email SundayEdition@anthonycorona.com and let us know you are reading Growing the Circle and would like to join the conversation. Details will follow once the date is finalized.

Please support Barbara’s work by purchasing the book and leaving reviews on Goodreads, Amazon, Audible, or wherever you listen to audiobooks. Reviews and engagement truly matter. The more interaction, the more the algorithm recognizes these stories and shares them with new readers. Amplifying good work is one of the simplest and most powerful forms of advocacy.

  • Kevin and Sarah LaRose: The Conversation
    Feb 15 2026

Sunday Edition Presents: A Conversation with Kevin and Sarah LaRoseBy: Anthony Corona

    Air Date: February 15

In this heartfelt and deeply layered conversation, we sit down with Kevin and Sarah LaRose to talk about life, love, blindness and vision loss, faith held onto, faith practiced, faith questioned and faith reclaimed.

For years we have corresponded, supported and amplified one another’s work across advocacy spaces and community conversations. It was long past time that we sat down together not only as colleagues in the work, but as friends and partners in shared purpose.

Sarah and Kevin have been married since 2012. They first met in 1998 while participating in advocacy activities online and through the American Council of the Blind. What began as shared advocacy grew into shared life.

Kevin is a lover of history and politics, an enthusiastic home cook, an avid podcast listener and the kind of reader who juggles three books at once. A gifted wordsmith, he describes himself as an introvert, yet he is also a generous encourager who offers thoughtful compliments with sincerity and care.

Sarah taught biblical languages at Anderson University from 2015 to 2024 and received the Jacob Bolotin Award from the National Federation of the Blind in 2016. She now works as a braille transcriber for JBI Library. In her memoir, Past the Gray Curtain, she offers a deeply personal reflection on faith, identity and lived experience. You can learn more about Sarah and her work at http://www.sarahblakelarose.com and explore Kevin’s work at http://www.kevinlarose.net.

While there are many memoirs available today, this is a beautifully written, thoughtfully presented and deeply thought provoking work. Supporting one another is not only about hitting a like button or sharing a post. It is also about showing up through action. Please consider purchasing Sarah’s book today and investing in the powerful storytelling and lived experience she so generously shares.

During our conversation, we explore navigating blindness and vision loss within faith communities, translating belief into lived practice in a modern world and the quiet courage it takes to wrestle with doubt while holding onto hope.

Gabriel Lopez Kafati joins us for part of the conversation as we begin teasing an upcoming six week series of Thursday night discussions leading up to and through the Lenten season and Easter. Together we talk about what it means to translate faith into action and compassion in today’s world.

This episode is thoughtful, honest and grounded in lived experience. It is a conversation about partnership, calling and the ongoing journey of becoming.

  • The EchoVision Glasses Experience: Presented By Sunday Edition
    Feb 8 2026

Sunday Edition PresentsThe EchoVision Glasses Experience

This weeks Sunday Edition featured an in depth and community centered conversation exploring the EchoVision smart glasses and the growing ecosystem surrounding them.

Our guest Amy from the AGIGA team guided us through multiple live demonstrations of the EchoVision glasses, offering a clear and practical look at how they function in real world use. Amy shared the story behind the development of the glasses, the philosophy that shaped their design, and what is coming next for both the product and the broader EchoVision community.

We explored the history of EchoVision, how blind and low vision users were involved from the very beginning, and why the Pioneer experience is such a critical part of refining and strengthening the technology. Amy also walked listeners through how to learn more, where to find demos and resources, and how interested users can take next steps.

A highlight of the episode was hearing directly from current EchoVision Pioneers. Several users joined the conversation to share their lived experiences, practical use cases, and honest reflections on how the glasses fit into daily life. These firsthand perspectives brought depth and authenticity to the discussion and reinforced the importance of designing assistive technology with the community rather than for it.

We were also pleased to introduce Lisa Brooks, who is helping to manage and grow the social media presence surrounding EchoVision. Lisa shared insight into how the community connects online and how users can stay engaged, informed, and supported as the platform continues to evolve.

This episode reflects what Sunday Edition does best, bringing together developers, users, advocates, and community voices for thoughtful and accessible conversations about technology, independence, and lived experience.

  • Sunday Edition Presents: Blind Travel Foundation and Creative Guidance
    Jan 25 2026

Blind Travel Foundation and Creative Guidance with Sunday Edition

This week on Sunday Edition, we bring together two returning voices whose work reminds us that exploration is not just about where we go, but how deeply we listen, adapt, and grow.

In our first conversation, we sit down once again with Mike Walsh, founder and executive director of the Blind Travel Foundation. Mike joins us to talk about blind led travel, adventure with purpose, and the power of reclaiming curiosity in a world that often underestimates what blind and low vision travelers can do. From meaningful travel grants to community storytelling, Mike shares how the Blind Travel Foundation continues to expand what access and possibility look like in motion.

Mike also walks us through the application process for this year’s ten thousand dollar travel grant and reminds listeners that the deadline is quickly approaching.

In our second segment, we welcome back Coach Kaila Allen of Creative Guidance LLC. Kaila is a naturally curious soul whose twenty year journey through the healing arts is shaped by her lived experience with Leber Congenital Amaurosis. Diagnosed at age three, Kaila learned early that when one way of seeing closes, another opens. Her work centers on inner sight, deep listening, and guiding individuals through life transitions by integrating mindfulness, somatic resilience, wellness, and energy healing. Kaila believes transformation is not about becoming someone new, but uncovering the authentic and magnificent version of yourself that already exists.

Kaila begins our conversation with a beautiful grounding exercise before we move into a discussion about intentional living and her chosen word of the year for 2026.

Both of these conversations highlight something powerful. These are two members of our community who started with an idea, nurtured a dream, and put in the work to turn vision into action. Through the Blind Travel Foundation and Creative Guidance, Mike and Kaila have built something real, sustainable, and deeply rooted in giving back to the blind and low vision community.

Together, these conversations explore travel, creativity, adaptation, and what it truly means to move from stuckness into purpose.

Both Mike Walsh and Kaila Allen are familiar voices to the Sunday Edition family, and we are thrilled to bring them back for a conversation rooted in insight, experience, and forward motion. Sunday Edition airs every Sunday at 1 PM Eastern on 2020 The Beacon and Corona FM.The podcast edition is available the very next day wherever you listen to podcasts by searching Sunday Edition with Anthony Corona.
