Today we are talking about the Home Before Dark, the latest thriller novel of Riley Sager. It came out in June 2020, it’s his fourth book, and I really wanted to buy it, but I had to be mindful of my book budget. I ended putting it on hold at my library, thus I had to wait several months before it became available.

Today we are talking about The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. Published in 1886, this Gothic novella gives a physical manifestation to the duality of man and explores how we process good and evil. 3,000 copies were initially printed and stores did not stock the books until a review appeared in The Times on 25 January 1886 giving it a favorable reception. Within the next six months, close to 40 thousand copies were sold.

Today we are talking about The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins, the modern re-imagining of Jane Eyre set in Birmingham, Alabama! This episode does contain spoilers; you have been duly warned!

Today we are talking about the one and only novel by Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray. Despite the editor deleting parts of the story without Wilde’s knowledge, still the book shocked readers and many believed that Oscar Wilde. should be prosecuted for violating laws that guarded public morality.

This is Season III Episode 1 of Sublimely Gothic. Today we are kicking off the new season with a new entry into the Gothic canon, a YA horror novel by the name of Horrid. And joining us for that conversation is none other the author herself, Katrina Leno!

This episode contains an unspoiled interview of Katrina about Horrid, but after that we will delve into deeper themes of the books that shall require spoilers. Please note that spoilers begin at 40:19!
