  • AI Isn’t the Threat—Flying Blind Is | Skin in the Game with Mariia Potupchik
    Apr 6 2026

AI isn’t the threat; the real danger is flying blind.

Mariia Potupchik is the Founder & CEO of YourSkills. Previously, she led teams at Skyeng, one of Europe’s largest online education platforms—and she learned this firsthand while managing over 100 people. She had dashboards full of data, but on a customer support call, she discovered a woman in a small town learning English to support her disabled child—flagged as a “retention risk” on the dashboard, yet she was the most dedicated learner.

“We were optimizing for averages,” Mariia says. “And averages erase people.”

That tension between scale and individuality is exactly what she’s now solving with YourSkills, an AI-powered platform that makes the invisible visible—mapping what people can actually do, not just what their job title says.

In this #SkinInTheGameWithDebbieGo episode, we explore:

✅ Why 80% of AI pilots fail—not because of the technology, but because of overlooked human factors (training mismatched, best people leaving unseen, AI adoption unsupported).

✅ How YourSkills acts as the intelligence layer to navigate workforce complexity, using behavioral signals instead of self‑reporting.

✅ The future of work: making talent the star, not credentials—shifting from job titles to real capabilities.

If you’re leading a team through the AI transition, stop measuring adoption. Start measuring readiness.

  • The “Invisible” Skills Your HR System Can’t See | Mariia Potupchik on Skin in the Game (Teaser)
    Apr 5 2026

Your HR system tells you a person’s title and function. It tells you nothing about their skills.
If you have two "Senior Product Managers," your dashboard likely treats them as identical units. But in reality:
    - One is a data analysis and AI integration expert.
    - The other is a stakeholder management and design thinking expert.

On paper, they are the same. In practice, their readiness for AI transformation is worlds apart.

In this #SkinInTheGameWithDebbieGo teaser, @MariaPotupchik —Founder & CEO of @YourSkills_Pro —cuts through the AI hype to reveal the real blind spot: companies are still looking at job titles instead of capabilities.

“Every HR system in the world organizes people by role, department, and seniority. That tells you nothing about what someone can actually do.”

That’s why she built YourSkills: to make the invisible visible—mapping real capabilities, not job titles.

  • LLM Trust Trap: Why Natural Language Bypasses Critical Thinking | Skin in the Game with Amit Shivpuja
    Mar 2 2026

There is a paradox emerging in the age of Generative AI.

Business leaders are trained to be skeptical of raw data. They question spreadsheets. They interrogate dashboards. But the moment that same data is wrapped in a conversational sentence by an LLM? The skepticism vanishes.
In the latest episode of Skin in the Game, I sat down with Amit Shivpuja (Director of Data Product & AI Enablement @ Walmart) to discuss why our biggest AI challenge isn't the technology—it's the misplaced trust that comes with a friendly chat interface.

    As Amit put it:
"People tend to put a lot more trust in the system than they would normally do. They're a little skeptical if you give them a table of numbers, but if you write them a sentence saying the answer is X, they tend to trust it. It's on us to show them how we came up with the answer, not just give them a number."

We also explored a fascinating case from his VR days where survey data (what people said) completely contradicted usage data (what people did). The lesson? Whether you are dealing with human feedback or AI output, validation is non-negotiable.

If your organization is racing to adopt AI tools, this conversation is a vital reality check. We dig into:

    • The "Data Sandwich" framework for building trustworthy systems
    • How to build trust through radical transparency
    • Why accountability must always remain with the human
