  • Episode 35: Asexuality: Identity, Community and Healthcare

    During Asexual Awareness Week, ShoutOut volunteer Jenny met with Ashley and Sabine from Outhouse's Ace & Aro Group, and Aiden who is the Events Chair, with RCSI's student Pride Society.


    They discussed how they learned about asexuality, representations of asexuality in the media, finding community with other asexual and aromantic people, and asexual people's experiences with healthcare.

    🎤 Meet the panelists:
    🔍 Aisha Nazim – A PhD student at UCD researching Queer Muslims in South Asia, with a background in journalism, minority rights, and tackling mis/disinformation.
    
🖌 Pradeep Mahadeshwar – A multidisciplinary Irish artist of Indian origin, Pradeep is the founder of Queer Asian Pride Ireland (QAPI) and Queer Spectrum Film Festival (QSFF), creating spaces that uplift Queer People of Colour and immigrant communities.
    📚 Dr. Seán Henry – Senior Lecturer in Education & Cultural Studies at Edge Hill University, UK, and author of Queer Thriving in Religious Schools. His work challenges traditional paradigms of LGBTQ+ inclusion in faith-based education.
