  • S15E35 World Cup Throwback: Kits n Tunes
    Jan 29 2026

We're kicking off our countdown to the 2026 World Cup by looking back to an era where Scotland were regulars on the world's greatest stage, qualifying for six out of seven finals between 1974 and 1998. For this episode, John has drafted in entertainer Grant Stott, match announcer Graeme Easton and Famous Tartan Magazine Editor Iain Emerson, all kids in the 70's, alongside SFF regular Erin who was still in single digits when Scotland were last at the finals. They were tasked with ranking the official (and one unofficial) Scotland World Cup singles and the home kits worn at each of the tournaments.

From Easy Easy to Del Amitri, through Ally's Army and We Have A Dream to Big Trip to Mexico and Say it With Pride, coupled with the evolution of the Umbro kits, there are varied opinions and great stories from the panel, who also give their views on the ideal World Cup artist(s) for 2026.

We'd also love to hear what you think, so leave your comments, share on Social Media, and let us know what songs make your playlist and the tops you'd be most likely to don come the summer as we look forward to returning to the biggest sporting event on the planet.

Thanks as always for listening. If you enjoy this podcast, please share it around!

  • S15E34 Premiership Midway Review - Middle 4
    Jan 21 2026

Hibernian - where possibly the only thing left of the season is hoping Hearts can be stopped and maybe even finishing tenth would be preferable.

Falkirk - the high flying newcomers to the Premiership are now dreaming of Europe as the McGlynn Machine rolls on.

Dundee United - is Jim Goodwin under pressure to do something this season whilst not really in danger of anything bad happening and is that too many scars of the last decade?

Aberdeen - the almost annual new year hunt for a new manager is in full swing again, the cup win a distant memory but the defence goes on for now.

It's the middle four in the Premiership and it's a mixture of positive and negative as you'd expect.

    Jan 15 2026

We interrupt these mid-season reviews of the Premiership to bring you an interview with a very special guest!

Charlie and Laurie sat down with Scottish Football legend Mixu Paatelainen to chat about his career in Scotland, both playing and managing. We also ask him some of the questions the listeners sent in.

We hope you enjoy this chat with Mixu.

  • S15E32 Premiership Midway Review - Top 4
    Jan 8 2026

Hearts - A winger from mid table Slovakia, an incredible Freddie mercury inspired chant and a Leicester city potential season.

Rangers - Swimming in Loch Lomond with the worst manager in their history and a director working 25/8 to somehow clawing back a league challenge from the abyss.

Celtic - Brendan Rodgers doing a midnight flit again, the Celtic board reversing the years 2 decades, then somehow hiring a manager who managed more Loch Lomond level events in half the time.

Motherwell - some how transforming into Brazil 1970.

That's the top 4, it's only January and we've still got nearly 20 games of football.

Ladies and gentlemen, fasten your seatbelts.

  • S15E31 Charity in the North East
    Dec 23 2025

It's the busy festive period, but while many of us are frantically rushing around trying to organise things at the last minute again, Dave has stepped up with two cracking interviews for you this week.

First up is Kevin Lynch from the North East Tartan Army to talk about what a year it's been from his perspective, as well as the upcoming 10th anniversary of NETA. Let's face it, no one is getting tired of talking about Scotland qualifying for the World Cup! Kevin also chats about just some of the charity events being run and the hopes for council fan zones come World Cup time.

Then we have Oliver Kennedy, St Johnstone and Scotland fan as well as journalist for the Gaudie student newspaper in Aberdeen, clearly another happy man as far as the football goes at the moment! Oliver had a couple of technical issues while recording this, for which we can only apologise and hope it doesn't interfere with your enjoyment of this podcast.

  • S15E30 Championship Basement Battle Royale
    Dec 15 2025

Danny returns to hosting duty once more to bring you all the latest from the Championship capers. While his own St Johnstone are flying high, he's joined by David and Katie whose own teams, Queen's Park and Airdrie respectively, aren't having much luck at the other end of the table.

Still, could be worse, could be Ross County fans.

They discuss all the latest goings on, including the sacking of Tony Docherty following County's 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Raith Rovers at the weekend. Will the former favourites to win the Championship turn things around and avoid relegation to League One? There's a long way to go yet, but plenty to chat about!

  • S15E29 Blowin' in the Wind
    Dec 10 2025

As Scotland gets battered by another storm, the football tries its best to continue on regardless - with mixed results in the KDM Evolution Trophy... or the Scottish Challenge Cup once you blow away the sponsorship.

Josh hosts the latest podcast, and he's joined by Charlie, Daris, Graeme and Krys to chat not only about the weather related stories from the midweek cup fixtures, but also to look back on the weekend's action.

The top of the table clash at Celtic Park went the way of the visitors, so questions are once again asked as to whether Hearts can end the Glasgow stranglehold on the title as well as the far more important question of whether or not the wind can blow away wee magnets.

How many teams are in this title race anyway? Two? Three? Four? Five? The next few weeks will no doubt breeze through and make the picture a little clearer.

The guys also touch on the World Cup draw once more, looking in detail at Scotland chances of finally getting out of the group stage at the ninth time of asking, and just how much more it might cost the Tartan Army to stay on in an already eyewateringly expensive trip to North America. Those costs have really taken the wind out of the sails of some of us.

  • S15E28 Derek Rae's Guide to Boston
    Dec 9 2025

We know the draw, and now we know where Scotland are going to be playing their World Cup games. Brazil in Miami on the third matchday follows Haiti and Morocco in Boston, and John B got in touch with Scottish commentator Derek Rae, who happens to reside in the Massachusetts city.

Lightning has struck twice for Derek as the Euro's also welcomed the Scots in his German residence of Cologne, and he confidently predicts that Boston will have as big an impact on the Tartan Army as Cologne did. Derek gives his insight into the best hotspots in the city, the best areas for TA congregation, and very useful tips on getting to the stadium so pay attention. He finishes up by giving his thoughts on Scotland's chances, and two players who he's seen at close quarters that should be considered for Steve Clarke's squad.

The podcast finishes up with the thoughts of the three other home nations who featured in the draw. 3 Lions podcast host Russell Osbourne takes a look at England's chances, which didn't quite have the "Lapland, Melchester Rovers and me and my mum" scenario like other campaigns gone by, whilst Podcast Peldroed host Russell Todd and journalist Mark McIntosh take a Welsh and Northern Irish viewpoint, where both nations are in the same playoff path as Bosnia and Italy respectively.
