There are some troubling analogs between bad theology and the frameworks of abusive relationships. Intimidation, power, shame, and control are common aspects of both. Does fundamentalist theology lay the groundwork for abusive human relationships? How can we detect abusive themes in the ways we talk about God, what behavior we expect from one another, and how the church treats and talks about human beings?
