    • Reliably Republican with K.C. Crosbie - Victor Davis Hanson
      Sep 1 2025
In this episode of *Reliably Republican*, host K.C. Crosbie engages with military historian and political commentator Victor Davis Hanson to discuss his upcoming book, “The End of Everything”, which explores historical instances of civilizations' complete destruction and the potential for such events in the modern era. The conversation delves into contemporary global conflicts, particularly the Russia-Ukraine war, and President Trump's efforts to address these issues, emphasizing his focus on stopping violence and his strategic approach to a second term. Hanson critiques the lack of strategy in prior administrations and highlights Trump's counter-revolutionary agenda against progressive institutional power. The episode also touches on California politics, with Hanson analyzing Governor Gavin Newsom’s leadership and the Democratic Party’s challenges, alongside a brief discussion of Kamala Harris’s political trajectory and her upcoming book.

Victor is a distinguished military historian, political commentator, and professor emeritus of Classics at California State University, Fresno. Born in 1953 in Fowler, California, he earned his B.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and his Ph.D. in Classics from Stanford University. Hanson has authored or edited approximately 26 books, including “The End of Everything” and “The Case for Trump”, blending historical analysis with contemporary political insights. His work often examines the decline of civilizations, military history, and the cultural and political dynamics of the United States, earning him recognition such as the National Humanities Medal awarded by President George W. Bush in 2007. A senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, Hanson is a prominent voice in conservative circles, frequently contributing to publications like National Review and appearing on various media platforms to discuss history, politics, and culture.

Beyond his academic and literary contributions, Hanson is known for his incisive commentary on modern political trends, particularly his support for the America First agenda and his critiques of progressive policies. Residing in California’s Central Valley, he brings a unique perspective as a farmer and scholar, often highlighting the disconnect between coastal liberal elites and middle America. His ability to draw parallels between ancient history and current events has made him a sought-after commentator on issues ranging from global conflicts to domestic policy, with a focus on the enduring lessons of human nature and societal resilience.
