    Oct 8 2020

Welcome to this short introductory episode of Reeducate With Me, with your host, Amanda.

I tell you a little bit about myself, my reasons for making this podcast, what 'reeducation' is, and how we can learn more about the world and maybe even understand it, by figuring it out together.

  • #1: Written and Unwritten
    Oct 8 2020

In the first official episode of the Reeducate With Me podcast, I attempt to explain how the UK’s parliamentary process works, while tackling why we don’t have a written constitution in our country. I hope you enjoy and find it useful!  Highlights include me getting angry about the House of Lords, geeking out on India’s constitution, and going off about the parliamentary mace.

  • #2: Religion: Oppression in the Past; Hope for the Future?
    Oct 22 2020

In this episode I endeavour to uncover the origins of religion's historically oppressive regime, how it has perpetuated sexism and other inequalities, and stress the importance of intersectionality. I also think about how we can reframe religion as part of liberation rather than oppression.

CW: This episode contains reference to the sexual violence experienced by black women during slavery.

  • #3: The Failings of the Mainstream Media
    Nov 5 2020

In this episode I assess how well the mainstream media is doing at fulfilling its roles and responsibilities to the people of the UK (spoiler: not very). From The S*n’s reporting on the Hillsborough disaster to the demonisation of refugees in the media in general, the media doesn’t report accurately or represent the demographic it is supposed to, and change is needed to combat this.
