    • A Verse A Day: Discovering the Power of God's Word in Small Portions
      Jan 19 2026

Send us your questions and reflections!

What if you could experience life-changing transformation in less than sixty seconds a day? It sounds impossible, but when it comes to engaging God's Word, even the smallest portions carry incredible power.

Welcome to Week 2 of our "Start Small: Small Steps. Big Results" series. After spending last week exploring prayer, we're now shifting to another essential spiritual discipline—engaging God's Word. And we're starting with the simplest, most accessible practice: memorizing and meditating on just one verse a day.

In Psalm 119:11, the psalmist declares, "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." Notice the word "hidden"—not just read, not just heard, but tucked away, stored up, memorized. The psalmist understood something crucial: God's Word is powerful even in small portions.

The All-or-Nothing Trap: Many of us want to read the Bible more, but it feels overwhelming. We see ambitious reading plans and think, "That's great for someone who has it all together, but I can barely finish my morning coffee uninterrupted." So we don't start at all. We think if we can't read a whole chapter or complete a whole plan, what's the point? But this thinking keeps us from experiencing the very thing that could sustain us.

The Game-Changing Principle: What if the goal isn't to consume more Scripture, but to let Scripture consume us? What if one verse, truly hidden in your heart, is more valuable than three chapters you skimmed and forgot? God's Word works like medicine—you don't need the entire bottle for it to work. You need the right dose at the right time. Every single word carries the life and power of God.

      What You'll Learn:

      • Why God's Word is powerful even in small portions
      • How memorization transforms information into formation
      • A simple four-step process for engaging one verse daily
      • How hidden Scripture becomes accessible in moments of need
      • Why starting with one verse often creates hunger for more

      The Four-Step Practice:

      1. Choose one verse (don't overthink it)
      2. Read it several times, noticing what stands out
      3. Memorize it throughout your day
      4. Reflect on how it applies to your life today

Real-Life Application: When God's Word is hidden in your heart, it becomes your internal compass, your source of strength, your reminder of truth when everything feels like chaos. It's there when temptation comes, when fear creeps in, when you need wisdom or comfort. One verse, carried with you, can speak directly into your moment of greatest need.

Your Challenge: Pick one verse today. Read it. Memorize it. Carry it with you. As you go through your day, ask yourself: How does this verse speak to what I'm facing right now? Don't underestimate what one verse can do—Jesus defeated the devil in the wilderness with Scripture, one verse at a time.

      Episode Length: 8 minutes

Start small. One verse. One day. Watch what God does with it.

    • Ending With Gratitude: How Recognizing God's Faithfulness Strengthens Your Faith
      Jan 16 2026

Send us your questions and reflections!

How you end your week matters. In our final episode of the prayer focus in "Start Small: Small Steps. Big Results," we explore a simple but transformative practice that can reshape how you see God's work in your life—ending with gratitude.

Drawing from Psalm 5:3, where David establishes his morning rhythm with God, we discover that prayer isn't just about asking for what's ahead—it's also about recognizing what God has already done. While David brought his requests to God each morning, throughout the Psalms he consistently returned with thanksgiving, understanding that gratitude is essential to a vibrant faith life.

The Challenge We Face: We move through our weeks at breakneck speed, rarely pausing to reflect on how God has shown up. We're not ungrateful—we're distracted. Focused on what's next, what we need, and what's going wrong, we miss the answered prayers, unexpected provisions, and moments of peace we didn't create ourselves.

The Principle: Recognizing God's faithfulness strengthens our faith. Faith isn't just about believing God can do something in the future—it's built on remembering what He's already done in the past. Throughout Scripture, God repeatedly told His people to remember His deliverance because memory fuels faith. When you recognize God's faithfulness behind you, you gain courage to trust Him with what's ahead.

      What You'll Discover:

      • Why ending your week with gratitude is a faith-building practice, not just good manners
      • How reflection and remembrance strengthen your spiritual foundation
      • Practical ways to identify God's faithfulness in ordinary moments
      • Why keeping a record of God's faithfulness matters for future challenges
      • How small pauses of gratitude create cumulative transformation in your faith

The Practice: Before each week ends, take a few minutes to reflect in prayer: How has God been faithful this week? Maybe it was provision, protection, peace, or patience. When you start looking for God's faithfulness, you'll start seeing it everywhere. This simple practice creates a testimony—evidence that God keeps showing up.

Your Challenge: End your week with gratitude in prayer, reflecting on how God has been faithful to you. Get specific. Name one or two ways He showed up. Over time, you'll build a record of His faithfulness to stand on when hard weeks come.

This isn't about adding another task to your list—it's about developing eyes to see God and cultivating a heart that trusts Him based on your personal history with a faithful God.

Creating Quiet Moments: The Power of Pausing to Hear God's Voice

In our noise-saturated world, finding time to pray can feel impossible. Between endless notifications, packed schedules, and the constant mental chatter, how are we supposed to hear from God?

In this episode of our "Start Small: Small Steps. Big Results" series, we explore Jesus' simple yet profound teaching from Matthew 6:6 about creating quiet moments with God. You don't need an hour of uninterrupted time or perfect circumstances—you just need 2-3 minutes and a willingness to pause.

Discover why small pauses create space for God's voice and how you can incorporate this practice into your busiest days. Whether it's in your car, your kitchen, or even the bathroom (yes, it has a door!), you can create sacred space right where you are.

      What You'll Learn:

      • Why waiting for "ideal conditions" to pray keeps you from praying at all
      • How Jesus modeled the practice of withdrawing to quiet places
      • The difference between talking to God and listening to God
      • Practical ways to create 2-3 minute prayer pauses in your daily routine
      • What it means that God "rewards" what is done in secret

This isn't about adding another obligation to your to-do list. It's about discovering that meaningful connection with God doesn't require perfection—it requires presence. Stop waiting for more time, more discipline, or more spiritual maturity. Start with one small pause today.

      Episode Length: 8 minutes

Challenge: Find one quiet moment today to speak with God and listen for His voice for just 2-3 minutes. See what happens when you create space and let God fill it.
