What if you lost both hands?
Scott Martin's journey began in 1993 when he was a successful head women's soccer coach at the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire. He fell ill, and fell into a coma for a month, only to awaken to the reality that he would need to adapt to a new way of living without his hands.
The journey to recovery was not a straightforward path. He candidly discusses the struggles he faced with depression, guilt, and the often-overlooked stages of grief that accompany such a life-changing event. He emphasizes that healing is not linear and that it took him decades to rebuild his life and find acceptance.
Scott ultimately turned his life around, returning to coaching and adopting multiple children. But the path was neither instant nor easy.
This story is both difficult and inspiring as Scott moves from personal struggle to empowerment. The universal themes of resilience, empathy, and the importance of community support will resonate with you as you follow his story.
