Even winning Player of the Year in 2016-2017 as a member of the Red Deer College Kings wasn't enough to get it done. Eventually, Ian gets his moment with Gold as he lives out the funnest season of his collegiate career with the SAIT Trojans in 2019 (Ep. 24).
