    • Infinite Impact | Poetry, Motion Capture & XR with Lacroy Nixon | Pear Garden Podcast S2E8
      Feb 2 2026

The Players of the Pear Garden welcome you to Season 2, Episode 8 of the Podcast of the Pear Garden, featuring an in-depth conversation with Doctor Green of the College of William & Mary and Lacroy Nixon, AKA Atlas, the Inaugural Poet Laureate of Williamsburg, Virginia. In this episode, we explore “Infinite Impact: Poetry in Motion Capture,” the groundbreaking embodied digital humanities project opening the 2026 Art & Science Exchange Showcase. Infinite Impact sits at the powerful intersection of poetry, performance, technology, and extended reality (XR).The project features three original poems that grapple with history’s hauntings, moral responsibility, and the far-reaching consequences of individual action. Developed in collaboration with the CSUSB Motion Capture for Theatre Arts Lab, led by Kristi Papailler, the work uses motion-capture technology to translate Nixon’s live poetic performance into a digital avatar and immersive XR environments, created by an interdisciplinary team of artists and technologists.By transforming embodied poetic expression into movement data, Infinite Impact demonstrates how digital tools can function as humanities research, highlighting the pedagogical potential of motion capture as a method for inquiry, interpretation, ethical witnessing, and storytelling.🎤 Special Performance:Lacroy Nixon also performs his poem “Spiderverse”, bringing spoken word poetry, embodiment, and speculative imagination directly to our audience. This episode is a must-watch for anyone interested in:Digital humanitiesMotion capture & performancePoetry and spoken wordXR, VR, and immersive storytellingArt & science collaborationEthics, history, and creative technology✨ Tune in for a conversation where poetry moves—literally.#PodcastOfThePearGarden #PlayersOfThePearGarden #DigitalHumanities #PoetryPodcast #SpokenWordPoetry#MotionCapture #XR #ExtendedReality #ImmersiveArt #ArtAndScience#PoetryInMotion #LacroyNixon #PoetLaureate #WilliamsburgVA#CollegeOfWilliamAndMary #CSUSB #TheatreArts #PerformanceTechnology#EmbodiedPoetry #EthicalWitnessing #DigitalPerformance #ArtTech#Spiderverse #PoetryPerformance #CreativeTechnology #HumanitiesResearch #Atlas
