  • Episode 13 - The Jersey Devil
    Feb 10 2026

    Episode Summary: The Jersey Devil

Dive into the haunted heart of New Jersey’s Pine Barrens—a million-acre wilderness of sandy soils, cranberry bogs, cedar swamps, and ancient Lenape spirits. We trace the real history: Swedish settlers, Quaker refugees, Revolutionary “Pine Robbers,” bog iron forges, and the isolation that birthed legends. Meet the Leeds family—surveyor Daniel, his almanac feuds with Quakers and Ben Franklin, and the cursed cabin where Mother Leeds’ 13th child emerged as a winged horror in 1735: goat head, bat wings, cloven hooves, red eyes, and a blood-curdling scream. From hoofprints vanishing into thin air to livestock kills and the 1909 “Jersey Devil Mania” panic (schools closed, posses formed, factories halted), we unpack the curse’s shadow. Then, relive chilling sightings: a Revolutionary sentry’s musket shot, Joseph Bonaparte’s hunt, a 1978 cop chase, 2008 campers’ blurry photo, 2015 river wading, and the fresh 2025 Batona Trail stalker with GoPro audio.

  • Episode 10 - James Ruppert Easter Massacre
    Apr 19 2025

Episode Summary: James U. Ruppert Hamilton Easter Massacre

On March 30, 1975, James Urban Ruppert, a troubled and reclusive 40-year-old man, committed one of Ohio’s most horrific mass murders. After years of simmering resentment toward his family—fueled by paranoia, financial dependence, and a belief they were conspiring against him—Ruppert methodically executed 11 relatives during an Easter gathering at his mother’s Hamilton home. Armed with multiple guns, he shot his brother, sister-in-law, eight nieces and nephews, and finally his mother in a calculated rampage.

Ruppert’s trial revealed a lifetime of psychological deterioration, marked by delusions of persecution and a fractured relationship with his domineering mother and favored older brother. Though initially sentenced to life in prison, legal battles over his sanity dragged on for decades. Despite multiple parole hearings, Ruppert remained incarcerated until his death in 2022 at age 88. The case remains a chilling study of familial dysfunction, untreated mental illness, and the catastrophic consequences of unchecked rage.

  • Episode 7 - Bigfoot
    Nov 27 2024

    Podcast Summary: Bigfoot

In this podcast, we delve into one of the most well-known and debated creatures in cryptozoology: Bigfoot. Also known as Sasquatch, this massive, hairy, human-like being is said to stalk the dense forests of North America, particularly in the Pacific Northwest. We explore the historical and cultural context of Bigfoot, from ancient legends to modern subcultures, and examine how this myth became so widespread.

We discuss the Patterson-Gimlin footage, one of the most famous pieces of evidence in Bigfoot lore, and the scientific analysis surrounding it. The podcast also covers notable Bigfoot hoaxes throughout history, which have plagued the field of cryptozoology since the inception of the legend.

The podcast highlights well-documented encounters, including the attack on Ape Canyon, where five miners claimed to have encountered and fought off a group of "ape men" in 1924. We also discuss the Melba Ketchum controversy, where a veterinarian and her team claimed to have found definitive proof of Bigfoot's existence through a comprehensive five-year DNA analysis.

The podcast examines the scientific consensus and skepticism surrounding Bigfoot, with experts attributing belief in the creature more to hoaxes, misidentifications, and psychological factors rather than a real undiscovered species. Despite this skepticism, several organizations and researchers continue to investigate the mystery of Bigfoot, including the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO), the Sasquatch Genome Project, the Center for Sasquatch Studies (CSS), the International Bigfoot Society (IBS), the North American Bigfoot Search (NABS), and the Bigfoot Evidence Research Project (BERP).

The quest to uncover the truth behind Bigfoot remains a persistent mystery, reflecting our fascination with the unexplained and the wild unknown.

From their early lives marked by turmoil and spiritual seeking, to their formation of the cult and its eventual tragic end, this podcast explores the complexities and tragedies of this cult.

We discuss how Applewhite and Nettles met in 1972 and their belief that they were destined for a divine mission together. The influence of science fiction on the group's teachings is also examined, as Applewhite and Nettles incorporated elements from popular science fiction literature and movies into their beliefs. The podcast discusses how this blending of science fiction and spirituality created a unique belief system that both captivated and isolated the group from the rest of society.
