    • Ep 15: The Arts in Academia Pt. 2 with Devon Steve
      Jan 11 2022

As we continue our discussion about studying the arts in an academic setting, we interview teacher, conductor, singer, and graduate student Devon Steve. Devon explains his teaching philosophy, shares his experiences as both a student and a teacher, and discusses the racial divide inherent within the current academic structure. Danielle and Devon also reminisce about the challenges of their education at the same undergraduate school, and Devon shares his thoughts on how the world of higher artistic education can better serve its students.

    • Ep 14: The Arts in Academia
      Dec 23 2021

Now that we've re-entered school to earn our graduate degrees, we wanted to talk about our experiences with the arts in an academic setting and how studying music in an academic context both helped and hindered us in our careers. Danielle talks about losing her voice in undergraduate school, Jack speaks on losing confidence due to the pressures of competition and comparison, we discuss the differences between our undergraduate and graduate experiences thus far, and we speak about the importance of continued arts education, particularly in the United States.
