    • Rewilding Plymouth: the story of Poole City Farm
      Mar 14 2023

Plymouth City Council owns and manages a unique rewilding project at the heart of Plymouth; Poole Farm and Derriford Community Park. The park consists of 147 hectares of beautiful wooded valleys, wildflower meadows, rivers and green spaces. It is sandwiched between the neighbourhoods of Leigham, Estover, Derriford, Crownhill and Eggbuckland.

Poole Farm is comprised of a huge diversity of projects that seek to bring environmental and social justice to the heart of the local community. We will hear from some of the voices at the farm and learn about how nature and people are bouncing back. From tree planting to community action and health and well-being, Poole Farm leads the example in demonstrating how cities are vital in putting local communities at the centre of environmental stewardship.

Thanks to Green Minds, which is funded by the European Union, Urban Innovative Action funded Project, a beaver re-introduction strategy has taken place and is likely to continue in the future. This is the first urban beaver re-introduction project in the UK.

Check out Poole Farm on their website and social media to see how you get involved today. If you have a project or voice that needs amplifying, get in touch @ thenaturedeficitpodcast on Instagram.
