Joe DiMaggio, often called "The Yankee Clipper" for his graceful play, was a legendary center fielder for the New York Yankees from 1936 to 1951. His most famous and enduring achievement is his unbroken Major League Baseball record of hitting safely in 56 consecutive games in 1941, a feat that captivated the nation.
