  • Kelsea Ballerini's heartbreaking goodbye to best friend | Music City Minute
    Jan 9 2026

I admit, when I woke up this morning, I did not think I would end up ugly crying at work, but here we are. Most Kelsea Ballerini fans are familiar with her dog, Dibs. Over the last 10 years, no matter how crazy Ballerini’s life got, she could always depend on the loyal pup to be her anchor. Sadly, Dibs was diagnosed with inoperable cancer near his heart in the fall of 2024. Not knowing how long how much time was left, the "East Tennessee" singer put a lot of energy into treating Dibs, keeping him comfortable and, of course, spoiling him rotten with love, treats and lots of adventures. That said, Ballerini was able to find the strength to share a memorial post honoring Dibs, who crossed the rainbow bridge last week. Reflecting on their special bond, Ballerini said she was the luckiest person in the world to have been his mom. She goes on to declare the sweet boy her “soul dog” who she hopes and prays to reunite with in every life.

  • Joshua Ray Walker makes Texas sized commitment, receives 'atta-boy' from Jelly Roll! | Music City Minute
    Jan 8 2026
Joshua Ray Walker is an incredibly talented artist from Texas. Unfortunately, the last few years have been a personal roller coaster ride for the 32-year-old. Back in 2023, he was diagnosed with colon cancer and underwood treatment. Late in 2024, a follow up scan apparently revealed the cancer has spread to his lungs. Needless to say, Walker was preparing for the worst. That is, until just weeks later, when he learned the original diagnosis was incorrect and there were no signs of cancer anywhere in his body. The emotional and physical toll from the experience was enormous, and soon the singer ballooned to over 600 pounds. However, after seeing Jelly Roll on the cover of Men's Health magazine, the Texas native is ready to turn his life around, announcing his plan to lose 400 pounds in 400 days. Walker started a new Instagram page in an effort to document his progress, which has already gained over 300,000 followers. Not only that, but Jelly Roll has also personally reached out with words of encouragement, as well as offering a helping hand. I'm Sheena, and that's your Music City Minute.

  • Zack Bryan and Samantha Leonard, cheers to happily ever after! | Music City Minute
    Jan 5 2026
Zach Bryan is kicking off 2026 with a bang, or rather, the ring of wedding bells. The "Pink Skies" singer has apparently tied the knot with his current squeeze, Samantha Leonard. Their whirlwind relationship has taken the couple around the world. A few of their epic adventures include (but are not limited to) hiking in the Alps, skydiving and attending the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain...not just as spectators, but actual participants! That experience must have left quite the impression, especially considering Bryan and Leonard chose the coastal city of San Sebastián, Spain, as the backdrop for their big day. The picture-perfect wedding ended with the bride and groom rocking sunglasses and driving off in a shiny convertible. Although the singer and the influencer both seem to harbor wild spirits, ultimately, that might be the key to not only a thriving relationship, but also the peace and contentment Bryan has been desperately seeking. Congratulations to the lovebirds on this new, exciting chapter. I’m Sheena, and that’s your Music City Minute.

  • Florida Georgia Line: truth behind breakup revealed | Music City Minute
    Dec 23 2025
Three years ago, Florida Georgia Line's "indefinite hiatus" sent shockwaves throughout country music. Rumors about the breakup permeated the Nashville air like mash boiling in a still. Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelly are widely recognized as a genre-defining duo who helped hard launch bro and boyfriend country. That said, who would’ve guessed FGL's split was as drama free as their songs? Finally setting the record straight, Hubbard admits the band’s coup de grâce was triggered, ironically, by a song. According to Hubbard, one day in 2022, he and Brian Kelley were discussing a new song. Apparently, Kelley had pitched the self-penned tune to Kenny Chesney, who decided to pass on it. BK was convinced the moment was "a sign" he should record the song solo. And so, with that epiphany, (as well as the realization both men were in very different places personally) FGL, the group, was no more. Thankfully, there is no bad blood between BK and Hubbard. Even though they are not as close as in their heyday, the duo has remained friends. I’m Sheena, and that’s your Music City Minute.

  • Riley Green to make acting debut, Hardy family gearing up for daughter’s first Christmas | Music City Minute
    Dec 22 2025
Riley Green has plenty of experience performing in front of a camera. Some of the projects he has been involved with include but are not limited to award shows, music videos and the occasional commercial. While those gigs are mostly an extension of his music career, the “Worst Way” singer has revealed he is getting a chance to flex his acting chops for real. Mr. Duckman confirmed he “did some acting, for a show” that will apparently be airing fairly soon. Despite Green’s lack of specific details, I think it is safe to say the itty-bitty bait he did cast out has fans hooked! Country rocker HARDY and his wife Caleigh are excited to celebrate their daughter’s first Christmas. Understandably, many parents would be tempted to go all out for a milestone of this magnitude. However, the Hardys are keeping their holidays “unapologetically” low key. Taking into consideration baby Rosie’s age, Mom and Dad (who are realists) concluded their 9 month old likely would not remember the day. Therefore, just a handful of gifts on Christmas morning will be more than reasonable. I’m Sheena, and that’s your Music City Minute.

  • Chris Young and Jelly Roll air out their dirty laundry...literally | Music City Minute
    Dec 18 2025
Ah, the holidays. A time of year filled with merriment, empty calories and family bonding…over your (college age) child’s dirty laundry…not the metaphorical kind. Speaking on this very specific topic, Chris Young fully admits he will wear a pair of jeans three, four, even five times before washing them. While some folks might find that extreme, in my experience, it is honest-to-goodness typical “guy” behavior. Now, before you say "but, that’s just one artist" or "that can’t be common consensus, they're rich and famous!" Please, allow me to share another example of how widely accepted this practice is in show business: "I have been wearing this outfit for three days. Every day I just wake up and Febreze it. I’ve done two concerts in this vest and these sweat pants!" Jell Roll revealed confidently. Although, to be fair, the outfit must pass a sniff test before he puts it on. Additionally, the country rocker makes it clear the practice does not apply to "drawers and socks," which require regular changing. I'm Sheena, and that's your Music City Minute.

  • Ring in the New Year with your favorite stars across the country music universe! | Music City Minute
    Dec 17 2025
For generations, New York City and Times Square have been the location to ring in the New Year. However, for folks looking for a different vibe, Music City has become a popular New Year’s Eve hub. Once again, "Nashville’s Big Bash Live" will attract tens of thousands of revelers to Bicentennial Capitol State Park for high-voltage performances from Bailey Zimmerman, Brooks & Dunn, Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Lainey Wilson, Megan Moroney, Rascal Flatts, Riley Green and Zach Top, culminating in the midnight countdown crescendo. Additionally, Luke Combs' Category 10, located a stone's throw from the Honky-Tonk Highway, will host a free official in-person watch party that includes special performances from Dwight Yoakam and Marcus King. Furthermore, merrymakers (like myself) who are planning little to no travel on NYE can tune into the five-hour live event on CBS or stream "Nashville's Big Bash" on Paramount+ Wednesday, December 31. • PRCA Rodeo and country music collide for a new Nashville tradition | Music City Minute
    Dec 16 2025
Tim McGraw, Reba McEntire and Jelly Roll all agree rodeo and country music go together like peas and carrots or straight pipes on diesel trucks. In fact, I can think of a number of champions who traded in their felt numbers and spurs to pursue an entirely different type of life on the road with guitar and microphone. Having said that, the three country music icons realized an opportunity for Nashville to host a major event, and, together, cofounded the Music City Rodeo. The inaugural competition took place over three days in May at the Bridgestone Arena, attracting champions from around the world and hundreds of thousands of dollars awarded in prize money. However, the largest rodeo east of the Mississippi was not just a one-off event. During the opening night of Tim McGraw's Las Vegas residency (which happened to coincide with National Finals Rodeo), the singer confirmed Music City Rodeo will return, for a second year, May 28-30! Fans will be treated bull riding, barrel racing, team roping, mutton busting and bronc riding, as well as live shows from Miranda Lambert, Charley Crockett and Jon Pardi.
