      A Mount Vernon youth baseball coach has been accused of sex crimes against one of his former players.

      Robert Pope, 30, was arrested at his Mount Vernon home on Tuesday after being accused of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a minor, the Mount Vernon mayor's office said in a statement Wednesday.

      That minor is 16, and the sex acts took place in recent months, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office said.

      Mount Vernon police were notified on Monday about the allegations against Pope. The teen's mother found text messages between Pope and her child, including sexually explicit messages and photographs, according to the mayor's office.

      Pope is also accused of having sexual contact with the teen on more than one occasion.
