There are moments in life that feel like time pauses—the kind that pull us out of our heads and back into our hearts. This episode is about one of those moments, and about what it looks like to navigate life transitions we don’t feel prepared for.

A little over a year ago, I walked into Pluff Mud Mercantile during a season of empty nest adjustment, grief, and personal transition. My son had just left for college, and I was still processing the loss of my mom. I was moving through one of those identity shifts that so many women face in midlife. And then I met Gina Moore.

We ended up in a deep and intuitive conversation right there at the register—about motherhood, letting go, and the fear that can come with stepping into the unknown. It was one of those grounding, heart-opening moments that reminded me I wasn’t losing myself. I was becoming someone new.

Since that day, Gina has closed her shop and stepped into a new season of spiritual guidance and intuitive work in her own life. In this episode, we talk about what it looks like to trust your inner knowing, how to soften during uncertain transitions, and how to reconnect with yourself when you feel unmoored.

If you're standing at a threshold, feeling the discomfort of change, or sensing an internal nudge you can’t yet explain, this conversation is for you.

When I read "I’m Sorry I Cremated You" by Jaclyn Michelle Smith, I instantly connected with her story. Her memoir captures the heartbreak, humor, and healing that come with caring for a parent with dementia and grieving the loss of both parents.

In this episode, Jaclyn and I talk about what it’s really like to love and care for aging parents while trying to hold on to your own life. She shares how improv comedy became her unexpected therapy, what it taught her about staying present, and how journaling through her dad’s final year led to a powerful book.

We also talk about the emotional gray areas of caregiving, boundaries, guilt, and grief—and how laughter sometimes shows up right beside the tears.

If you’ve ever been a caregiver, lost a parent, or wondered how to find yourself again after loss, this conversation will meet you right where you are.

It hits you in unexpected moments: months before the dorm drop-off, in the grocery aisle, or on a Sunday morning when the house just feels different.

In this episode, I’m talking with Allie Hill, author of The Girlfriend’s Guide to Empty Nesting. Allie and I explore what happens when your kids leave home — and how you can navigate the emotions, rediscover who you are, and begin writing the next chapter of your life.

Allie shares real stories — from tearing up over a box of Goldfish crackers to finding purpose again through coaching. Together, we talk about:

      • Why this transition often begins before your child leaves home
      • How to prepare emotionally (even though you can’t fully prepare)
      • What it means to rebuild a sense of identity beyond motherhood
      • How to hold both pride and sadness as your child grows up
      • Practical ways to find joy, curiosity, and purpose in midlife

If you’re entering or already in the empty-nest years, this episode is for you. You’ll find encouragement to feel everything, space to imagine what’s next, and inspiration to build a life that fits who you’re becoming.
