The von Stauffenberg family, a Swabian aristocratic lineage, produced two of the most remarkable figures of the German resistance: Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg and his sister-in-law, Melitta von Stauffenberg, nee Schiller. While Claus became the primary architect of the military resistance, utilizing his high-ranking position within the Wehrmacht to coordinate Operation Valkyrie, Melitta occupied a unique and precarious position as one of Germany’s most elite aeronautical engineers and test pilots, despite her Jewish heritage. Both were driven by a profound sense of duty that eventually placed them at the center of the Nazi party's most dangerous internal struggles.
