  • You are NOT Alone! (Even if you'd rather your spouse leave you that way sometime)
    Feb 10 2026
In this week's episode of the Roadcast, Brian and Jamie discuss the heaviness of the state of the world right now, and how we are prone to want to process this with our spouse. The challenge comes when, because of how we are wired so differently, one of us would rather do ANYTHING that discuss this garbage, especially at length! So, what's a man (or woman) to do?

They get into this common situation, and give practical advice on how to navigate this tricky situation, while still maintaining close intimacy, and avoiding the trap of sharing way too much with someone of the opposite sex (that's not your spouse!)

  • Are you a Saint or a Sinner? (Or Both?)
    Feb 3 2026
Saint or sinner? Which one are you? Which one are we? Is it possible we could be both?

In today's episode, Brian and Jamie discuss simultaneity (the property of two or more events occuring at the exact same time) in the context of who we are, who we want to be, perhaps how others view us, how we view ourselves, and ultimately, how we choose to show up in any given moment.

Brian reads the story of "The Good Samaritan," the parable told by Jesus, recounted in the gospel of Luke, highlighting the three in the short story, and their choices to pass on by, or to stop and help, and which unlikely character chose to be the "neighbor" of the unfortunate soul who had been beaten and robbed.

They shift the conversation to marriage, discussing how easy it is to frame any narrative in a dualistic, "victim/villian" context, many times seeing ourselves in conflict as the victim, ignoring the possibility that we could actually be the villain. They table the possibility that we are all both "saints and sinners" and that the devil in one ear, and the angel in the other, are both viable candidates that could be whispering at any given time, but that we have the choice to be either one.

They discuss the human urge to be defensive, the coping mechanism employed when we feel the need to justify ourselves, rather than resting in our justification by faith in Christ.

We hope you enjoy this episode, and that it will challenge you to see yourself and your spouse in a brand new light.

  • Winterizing Your Marriage
    Jan 27 2026
In today's "snowed in" episode, Brian and Jamie talk a little about being snowed in together, how to avoid cabin fever, how to avoid slipping on ice, and how stupid it is to have major NFL playoff games in a blizzard!!

Jamie talks about her disappointment in having to postpone her Evergreen retreat, and the way Brian might have missed the chance (in the ealy going) to be truly emotionally supportive, and how, after fumbling the ball a bit, he went back and asked her about how she was feeling about it.

They talk about the common mistakes couples make around disappointment, emotional support, resentment, and forgiveness - all the things that go into becoming vulnerable, and ultimately intimate with our spouse. Hope you guys enjoy!

  • Mad at God, but Afraid to Admit It?
    Jan 20 2026
In this week's episode, Jamie brings up the topic of being hurt, disappointed, disallusioned, or being downright angry with God, but somehow, unable or "prohibited" from speaking it (as if God doesn't already know your heart). They discuss how many Christians have been taught at a fundamental level that it would be "sinful" to be angry with God, and how heretical it sounds to have to "forgive God," when God is perfect!

They get real about their own struggles around this, and when that finally changed for them. Jamie talks about the freedom that came as she got honest with God for the first time, and they also compare intimacy in marriage to intimacy with God in this context.

Brian shares how intentionally focusing on the Christ in us, helps him see more and more that God isn't "out there," rather, IN US. Glad you're with us today.

  • 2026 Living Our Best Life!!
    Jan 13 2026
2026 is here, and we want it to be our best year yet - no hyperbole. Can we truly make that happen? Do we have any control over our lives, especially when we feel so many things are out of control in our world?

In today's first episode of the year, Brian and Jamie discuss setting intentions for your day, your week, your month, which all turn into your year! They share from personal experience, how doing daily mindfulness, and meditation practices, builiding in intention through affirmations have made a profoundly positive effect in their lives. They talk about practical ways to mitigate feelings of stress or anxiety (including social anxiety), and how we have more control over our thought life than we know. They share their "words of the year," which will help them focus on the things that truly matter, and the value in sharing those words with each other and with family.

They discuss how the holiday times can bring out a lot of crap for many, and the number of people who have already reached out for help in the new year, and their desire to help anyone who is struggling.

  • 2025 from The Rear View Mirror
    Dec 16 2025
In this final episode of the year, Brian and Jamie take a look back over 2025, the beginning of Long Haul Marriage, dealing with the grief of their less than sanctimonious departure from previous ministry positions, starting a new business TOGETHER, and testing the strength of their 35 year marriage in the most stressful pressure cooker in recent history! They talk of the ups and downs, and realize with grateful hearts, that there have been way more ups than downs! They talk about the rewards of their ministry, as well as lessons they've learned, and how their own marriage has grown through the process. They share eternal gratitude for everyone who supports their ministry, and every couple that trusts them with their relationship. They look forward to 2026 with excited and humbled hearts!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from us! See you next year!!

  • (Parenting) Lessons from the Hot Tub
    Dec 9 2025
In today's episode, Brian and Jamie discuss the always daunting, and tricky task of parenting - especially in today's culture where social media, and "popularized" parenting pressures from all sides, can make us question if we're doing anything right!! They discuss the stress of the holiday times, many times made worse by us working ourselves into a frenzy as parents, trying to be the "perfect" gift-givers for our kids.

They talk about their serendipitous conversation with 2 other couples in a 103 degree "World Spring" hot tub, which led to an incredible bonding experience, as they all shared just how hard it is to parent our kids these days. We all love our children, and for sure mean well, but many times, our deepest intuitions will be tested, and although there may be a societal tidal wave in an opposite direction, many times those "popular" opinions will prove to be incorrect.

Brian shares some insightful pages from The Hunter Gatherer's Guide to the 21st Century, by Heather Heying, and Bret Weinstein.

As always we so appreciate you listening. Enjoy!
