Google Partners with Jio to Offer Free Gemini AI to 500 Million Users Google announced a strategic partnership with Reliance Jio to provide its premium Gemini AI Pro service free for 18 months to over 500 million Jio subscribers in India. The offering, valued at approximately ₹35,100 ($396) per user, includes access to Gemini 2.5 Pro, 2TB of cloud storage, and expanded NotebookLM features. This move intensifies the AI competition in India, following similar announcements from OpenAI offering ChatGPT Go free to Indian users starting November 4. Microsoft and OpenAI Restructure Partnership Microsoft and OpenAI announced a new definitive agreement on October 27 that allows OpenAI to restructure into a public benefit corporation. Under the deal, Microsoft holds an investment valued at approximately $135 billion, representing about 27% ownership in OpenAI. The agreement removes Microsoft's previous right of first refusal and extends Microsoft's commercial rights to OpenAI products through 2032, while OpenAI gains greater independence to raise capital and pursue its own data center projects. Apple Confirms Siri Overhaul for 2026 Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed during the company's earnings call that the highly anticipated AI-enhanced Siri remains on track for launch in 2026. The upgraded assistant will feature better understanding of personal context, on-screen awareness, and deeper per-app controls. Elon Musk Launches Grokipedia Global Tech News Summary – November 1, 2025 Artificial Intelligence Developments Elon Musk's AI company xAI launched Grokipedia on October 27, an AI-powered encyclopedia positioning itself as an alternative to Wikipedia. Musk claims the platform will provide "the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth" and addresses what he views as left-wing bias on Wikipedia. At launch, Grokipedia featured over 800,000 AI-generated entries, compared to Wikipedia's nearly 8 million human-authored articles. Getty Images and Perplexity Sign Licensing Deal Getty Images and AI search startup Perplexity signed a global multi-year licensing agreement on October 31, allowing Perplexity to display Getty's editorial and creative images across its AIpowered search tools. The deal marks a significant shift for Perplexity, which has faced plagiarism accusations in the past. Getty's stock surged 50% following the announcement.
