    Wisdom can improve your life in all aspects: physical, emotional, mental, and financial. Learning from your experiences and the experiences of others and sharing that wisdom are vital to your survival and the survival of those you share your wisdom with.

    Laziness is a choice. You can do nothing, or you can do something--the choice is yours. Own your power to choose, act on it, and do something today that you can be proud of tomorrow.

  • The Micro-Manager

    The micromanager is probably the most infamous of all the bad bosses.  They reality is they suffocate people and they know it and they tend to believe it is a necessary evil.  The most frequent motivations for micromanagement are emotional insecurity, doubts regarding employee competence, or addiction to specific orders.

    Severe forms of micromanagement can stifle opportunities for the learning and development of interpersonal skills, completely eliminate trust, and even provoke anti-social behavior.  As leaders, we have to ask ourselves: is there anything, any quota,  goal, or any task worth us putting the mental and physical health of our employees at risk?

    New bosses must focus on building a team, not creating good individual relationships. It is very common for new managers to want to work toward getting their reports to like them. When new managers focus solely on the friendly connection, they neglect a fundamental aspect of effectual leadership, wherein a leader will employ the collective power of the group to improve individual performance and dedication.

    1. Think you know everything. “As much as it may stroke your ego, to believe you know everything, YOU DON’T. You must listen to the people around you, consider their input, and keep an open mind” —F. J. Reh. Think about it: a winning football team listens to their coaches; they get in the huddle and listen to their quarterback; and then in the midst of a play, they must listen to and trust each other. All winning partnerships win first at communication and trust. Be open, share, listen, and trust the people on your team.

    Bullies are voracious opportunists. They usually select their targets for various reasons. It may be because you’re good at your job, popular with your colleagues, clients, customers; any of the aforementioned could make you a target for a Bully. 

    In the end, a Bully fears the exposure of his or her own inadequacy or incompetence, and your presence, competence, and popularity unwittingly agitates those fears.
