  • Commentary - How can you tell if a Commissioner is Lying?
    Feb 19 2026
Last year four of your county commissioners engaged in massive theater saying they demanded that taxes be dropped. They even held a full day special budget meeting that didn’t do a thing - you know, that day when all four sat down to a lunch that likely violated state ethics rules. Later Commissioners acknowledged that they had to drop the tax rates in order to reduce taxes. Well, on the agenda for the February 25th meeting, Commission Chair Paula Carson has put an item on the agenda to notify the state Department of Taxation that the commissioners shall, quoting, “levy the same Ad Valorem tax rates for the Fiscal Year 2027 as Fiscal Year 2026". The Commission continues to claim they want to cut taxes, so why aren’t they? Ask your commissioners why they’re not cutting taxes on their talkback line - recorded - at 775-289-7777 - 775-289-7777. How can you tell if County Commissioners are lying? Their lips are moving.
