Good evening. Idaho. I'm Aaron Jolly. Right now? Fifty four degrees under crystal clear skies. Gorgeous. Soak that in on your evening walk. Because a cold front is loading up to our northwest like a freight train. In the next 24 hours. An upper level trough is digging into the Pacific Northwest tonight, pulling moisture ahead of it. Northern Idaho feels it first. Rain develops overnight with temperatures settling near 43 degrees. Down in the Treasure Valley, you're looking at partly cloudy skies and a mild low of 44 degrees. Southeast winds around 9 miles an hour. Nothing dramatic. Over in eastern Idaho, the quietest corner tonight. Partly cloudy, low near 31 degrees. Grab a jacket if you're stargazing under that full moon. Wednesday is where the story gets interesting. That cold front sweeps southeast across the state like a curtain closing on spring. The Treasure Valley sees showers and thunderstorms rolling in after 11 A.M. Highs touch 55 degrees, then nosedive to 45 by afternoon. Gusty south winds push to 21 miles an hour. Eastern Idaho stays dry longer. Rain doesn't arrive until after 5 P.M., with highs near 54 degrees. Northern Idaho? Gets soaked all day. High of just 46 degrees. Wednesday night, colder air floods in behind the front. Snow levels crash to four thousand feet. Eastern Idaho watches rain turn to snow with lows near 33 degrees. The Treasure Valley drops to 35 with lingering storms. Looking ahead. Thursday turns blustery. We're talking westerly gusts hitting 50 miles an hour across the Snake Plain. That wind will rearrange your patio furniture. Friday brings clearing skies. Then high pressure builds through the weekend, pushing temperatures back into the sixties by Sunday. Classic Idaho spring rollercoaster. Oh. And we're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight every single day now. That light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter, folks. I'll be tracking that front all night. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
