Miami is a private university, so everybody assumes you can't see what its athletic department actually makes. That's not necessarily true and the federal filing tells a story nobody in the Canes media space has told yet. Miami men's basketball generated $17,865,162 in revenue and turned a $3.5 million profit during the season the Hurricanes went 7-24 and Jim Larrañaga resigned in the middle of the year. That's the floor. That's what this program is worth when it's actively bad. Since then: Jai Lucas got a five-year extension after ONE season. Miami has signed a top-25 national recruit in three straight classes for the first time in program history. The transfer portal class went from 19th in the country to 6th. And the Hurricanes held a scholarship open in August on the chance a federal judge would rule Malik Reneau eligible for a fifth year. In this video I break down exactly what Miami basketball is worth, how the ACC's new revenue formula changed what winning is worth, what a college basketball roster actually costs in 2026 (hint: it's not the revenue-share number everyone quotes), where Miami realistically ranks with Reneau back — and the one thing this program still can't buy, which might be the reason Jai Lucas eventually leaves. The numbers in this video: ▪ Miami athletics revenue: $230,484,608 — 12th nationally, 1st in the ACC ▪ Football $99.8M vs men's basketball $17.9M ▪ The ACC's new formula: 60% of TV money by 5-year rolling viewership, basketball weighted at 25% ▪ What a national title in basketball actually pays vs. Miami football's $20M playoff run ▪ What Miami's roster likely costs — and how it compares to Kentucky's $22M ▪ Watsco Center holds 7,972. The 50th-best attendance in America was 8,000. The Echevarria Law Firm — proud title sponsor of Canes Pulse.
