In this opening message of our new series Acts: The Holy Spirit in Action, Pastor Josh Gribble introduces the book of Acts and shows how it continues the story of Jesus through the work of the Holy Spirit.
From Acts 1:1–11, we see Jesus ascend to heaven and commission His followers to carry the gospel to the ends of the earth. This moment marks the beginning of the church’s mission and the ongoing work of Christ through His Spirit-empowered people.
In this sermon, we explore four key truths that shape the entire book of Acts:
1. The author continues the story of Jesus
2. The book centers on the Spirit’s movement
3. The mission expands to the ends of the world
4. The church lives between ascension and return
If you’ve ever wondered what the book of Acts is about—or how it connects to your life today—this message provides a clear introduction to the story of the early church and God’s mission in the world.
