Good afternoon. Virginia. I'm Aaron Jolly. Spring just showed up two weeks early. Step outside right now and you're greeted by 61 degrees. That's not a typo. In the next 24 hours. Central Virginia hits 79 by mid-afternoon. The mountains steal the show at 80 — your warmest spot today. Down in Hampton Roads, you're looking at 72 with a steady southwest breeze around 12 miles an hour. Wall-to-wall sunshine across the state. Rain? Forget it. Less than a 6 percent chance anywhere. Tonight stays mild under thickening clouds. Lows drop to the mid-50s statewide — 57 inland, 55 along the coast. No rain expected, just that soft cloud cover rolling in after sunset. Friday keeps the warmth going, but here's where it gets interesting. Central Virginia and the mountains both reach the upper 70s to low 80s again. Hampton Roads? You start in the mid-60s, then watch the thermometer tumble to 51 by afternoon as a backdoor front sneaks in from the northeast. Mountains and central areas see a slight chance of showers after 1 P.M., but nothing major. Saturday stays warm — upper 60s to near 80 — but shower chances tick up by afternoon. Sunday brings the best rain odds at 50 to 60 percent, with possible thunderstorms, especially south. Monday tapers off, then we dry out Tuesday and Wednesday with highs climbing back into the low 80s. Another round of showers rolls in Wednesday night. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight each day now. And the spring equinox is just two weeks out. Tonight's full moon rises under mostly cloudy skies. Enjoy this preview of spring while it lasts. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
